INTRODUCTION this year i attempted another inktober challenge. so far the year ‘2020’ has been crazy FOR EVERYONE AROUND THE WORLD and it seems like this craziness will last a little longer. and amidst all of this I AM GLAD THERE are challenges like these to keep me motivated. this year i decided to add my own personal twist to the challenge. usually my illustrations don’t revolve around characters. That’s why i tried to improve my skills and develop more drawing habits behind the character design by creating 31 characters in 31 days with just ink on paper. it was great fun to come up with charcaters for ‘monster mash’ series. fOR EVERY PROMPT, I DREW A CHARACTER RELATED TO HALLOWEEN. THE CHARACTERS WERE ALL BASED AROUND MYTHOLOGY, FOLKLORE OR FICTION. BUT UNLIKE LAST YEAR, THIS YEAR’S CHALLENGE WAS A DIFFICULT ONE FOR ME. OCTOBER turned out be a HECTIC MONTH. DUE TO SPORTS INJURY I HAD TO BE ON BED REST FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH AND AS A FREELANCER I HAD OTHERS PROJECTS I HAD TO DEAL WITH BEFORE STARTING ON MY PERSONAL ONES. IT WAS A REAL STRUGGLE TO KEEP UP WITH INKOTBER PROMPTS ON A DAILY BASIS BUT I SOMEHOW MANAGED PULLED THROUGH WITH THE HELP OF THE MANTRA "FINISHED NOT PERFECT".
Finished not perfect It’s a mantra by jake parker that i often relate to when i’m struggling to finish a piece of illustration that i’ve started. mantra just states that finishing a thing is much more important than having something that is perfect but not finished. you might finish a project that probably going to stink but that’s not what’s important. what’s important is that you have the ability to take an idea from start to finish. if you focus on perfection too much then you are going to hate what you do. whoever you are, whatever you do, whatever you’re working on, finish it. for me, finishing my work always make me feel good about myself and my accomplishments, and hope to brighten someone else’s day. here’s the thing, stressing about perfection just doesn’t cut it when you’re working around the clock on different projects. this mantra kept me grounded and helped me develop characters throughout the month with ease. the ability to finish something is humble thing to remember in order to get better at something.

note Finally finished with inktober 2020! thank you @jakeparker for this year’s challenge. the prompt list was pretty good, and gave me loads of ideas to work with. it was so much fun to create monsters for 31 days based off the list and now i have an army of characters. I’m glaD I WAS ABLE TO IMPROVE A BIT IN THE AREA OF CHARACTER DESIGN AND ABLE TO FINISH EACH DRAWING WITHOUT WORRY. also, thank you to everyone who have liked or followed me and my work for the course of this challenge. i really appreciate it. and thank you to all the other artists who have inspired me to create my CHARACTERS. iT WAS REALLY GREAT TO DRAW FOR A BIT AROUND THE THEME OF HALLOWEEN BASED OFF MYTHOLOGY, FOLKLORE AND FICTION. IT GOT TRICKY AT TIMES BUT I GOT THROUGH IT. I LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR’S CHALLENGE!
