In December 2018, a landslide of Anak Krakatau triggered a tsunami hitting the coasts of Banten and Lampung. Pandeglang, Banten, has the highest number of casualties and damages. There are 4761 refugees in Pandeglang, spread to different refugee camps. Banten governor ordered the construction of emergency school tents for refugees while houses and schools are still repaired.

Schools have a significant role in helping communities cope with natural disasters (Mutch,2018). Schools give familiarity for children, distracted by routinity amidst disaster’s uncertainties. They also accomodate trauma healing, such as children retelling experiences to find closure and alleviate guilt, or group art performances to gather strength and hope. Schools also build community resillience, becoming a platform for students, parents, and teachers to discuss disaster preparedness and family/community rebuilding.

CONSTRUCTION STRATEGY Ease of contruction is a must as a respond to the continously changing, both growing and shrinking space of a post disaster refugee area. This criteria is realized through utilizing affordable, detachable modules, especially for the elements possibly changed due to space consideration (walls, floors, overstacks). Sandwich plywood panels and canal steel are the main materials due to the availability in Krakatau Steel, which is centered in Banten.

The module is divided into 3 parts to function in 3 different configuration, fully closed, as a door, and as a window. A pattern ofholes are created to provide air circulation and visual notes.
