WHY KENNEDY CATHOLIC? A top private high school in Seattle, Kennedy Catholic offers a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum with award-winning fine arts and athletic programs. Courses include dual-credit opportunities and English as a second language (ESL) for international students. Earned college credits are transferrable to most colleges in the nation. A Lancer is a type of cavalry man armed with a lance. The Kennedy Catholic school mascot is a Lancer. A mascot is a symbolic figure meant to bring good luck. Students who attend the school are often called “Lancers” and the school community is called the “Lancer Family”.

CAMPUS FACILITIES The school and dormitory sit on a 20-acre campus with state-of-the-art facilities including a 2.4M athletic field, recently renovated science classrooms and library with cutting-edge technology labs. Students can eat lunch in a large cafeteria or outside in one of two beautiful courtyards on campus. Meal options change throughout the week with a variety of foods from which to choose.

CURRICULUM AQUINAS HONORS PROGRAM Aquinas Honors classes engage a diverse population of students through a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum that promotes innovative thinking and creative expression.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION Each year, we welcome 90+ international students from all corners of the world to study on our campus. International students can reside in our residence hall or live with host families. The ESL program offers a curriculum designed to teach speaking, reading, writing, and listening with levels appropriate to ability and need.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT AP prepares students to pass an exam to prove mastery of college-level curriculum.

HOUSING Dormitory and homestay options are available. Housing fees include food and transportation for school activities during the school year. HOMESTAY Male and female students can join an American host family. Our host families are carefully screened and homes are safe and comfortable. Students can practice English, experience American culture and be part of a family.

DORMITORY Male students have the option to reside in our supervised, on-campus dormitory complete with meals, activities, and homework assistance. Dormitory supervisors provide a caring and respectful environment.

LIFE IN SEATTLE The natural beauty of Seattle, surrounded by mountains and water, is one of the biggest draws for visitors. Burien, where Kennedy Catholic is located, is just minutes from Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and the downtown metropolitan area. Burien offers the best of the Pacific Northwest, including views of Puget Sound. The thriving community is easy to navigate by bus or train. With a small-town vibe, Burien offers plenty of great choices for shopping, dining, and family activities. It’s a short 3-hour drive to Vancouver Canada, a 9-hour flight from Japan and a 10-hour flight from Germany.

EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCES Extraordinary experiences offer students the opportunity to explore life and culture in the Pacific Northwest. Trips are coordinated by the Office of International Education staff and offer a wide variety of activities and excursions. Ride the elevator to the top of the Space Needle, visit the Seattle Art Museum and Pike Place Market, shop at one of our exclusive malls, attend a Seattle Mariners baseball game or hike in one of many forests; these are just some of the amazing adventures students will experience in Seattle and the surrounding area.

OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION At Kennedy Catholic, international students receive comprehensive support and resources throughout the transition to student life abroad. Studying abroad represents a big life change. The Office of International Education offers professional in-country advisors and support in multiple languages including Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai and Korean. Doctor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering Stanford University Fall 2019 Mun Sek Kim is a research scientist who works to create efficient and sophisticated energy storage systems, technologies and materials. His research interests are interfacial engineerings, flexible electronics, electrochemical materials and nanotechnologies for physical and electrochemical energy storage devices. He has been a research scientist in lieu of military service at the center for energy storage research, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) from July 2016 to July 2019, and is currently pursuing his doctorate degree at Stanford University. 19
