Thoughts from the planner
There is a lot of anticipation that leads up to your wedding day. The entire process from engagement to nuptials varies in length but always consists of a little anxiety, chaos, and excitement. However, the payoff is great! Cherish the memories from this special moment in your life. While planning, relish the special design elements or unique details you will feature. Do not waste your energies wishing for items or services that may be outside of your means. It can be easy to lose sight of how special and unique your event will be while looking through stylized photo shoots from the industry’s leading professionals. Remember, these are over-the-top examples that are difficult and expensive to replicate for a large event. Use these images as a source of inspiration, not as a means of comparison. It is absolutely true when people tell you that your wedding day will fly by in a flash. The morning of the wedding, take twenty minutes to yourself by taking a short walk or a relaxing bath. The plans you’ve made have been put into motion. Stress will do nothing but rob you of the joy and the experience for yourself and loved ones. Remember, you have placed your trust in your carefully selected vendors. Throughout the day, take a few seconds to look up and look around. Soak it all in and take mental snapshots of small special moments. Photographers and videographers help capture memories of your wedding day, but they cannot film everything. The images will mean more in the years to come if you take time to appreciate the experience and the sheer magic of each moment.

whoa, HOLD YOUR
HORSES!
Living in Louisville is such a wonderful privilege. Our city is known as the “Largest Small Town” for its sense of tight-knit community while still having big city accessibility to sporting events, concerts, and festivals. However, this can be a problem when planning your special day in the coming year. Let your celebration be the focus without guests sneaking away to check the basketball score or forcing invited guests to choose between favorite local traditions and joining you on your wedding day! Conflicting with these dates may not only effect your guest count but also pose issues for transportation, hotel accommodations, or flight prices. LouisvilleWedding.com

Let the fun begin! Now that you are planning the most amazing day of your life, be sure to focus on these three topics as you start to build your dream wedding.
Budget Guests Season Vendors know everyone has a budget! Even if you don’t know the exact dollar amount, having a good idea of your wedding finances is important early in the game. Have open conversations with those helping you pay for the wedding as soon as you can. This will prevent over-spending early on. Vendors can help you stay on track by showing you what is realistic within your wedding budget.
The guest list can be the hardest part of planning a wedding. For best results, use one comprehensive spreadsheet to help track headcount. Attendance affects everything from food/beverage costs to the number of centerpieces, creating a huge impact on budget. Having a good idea of how many guests you expect on your first meeting with vendors will allow them to give professional guidance on optimizing space and budget.
Even if your venue is not finalized, you should still know if you want your wedding to be indoor or outdoor. You should also have an idea of what season and what time of day you would like to get married. Vendors can use this information to help you develop weather contingency plans, make recommendations for specialty rentals, or give you advice on creating ideal conditions for your guests’ comfort.

Still in play or not today?
There are a lot of long held traditions associated with weddings. However, as time passes some are becoming antiquated while others still hold value.
Wear a Traditional Dress & Veil The Verdict: Use your fashionable freedom!
You should feel like the most beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day. That being said, what you wear is your call! Let your hair style be the star by donning a brooch, fascinator or birdcage veil. Incorporate your personal fashion with some of these timeless trends hitting the scene: blush wedding gowns, modern pant suits, or elegant short dresses.
Be Escorted Down the Aisle The Verdict: Mix it up... do it your way!
Going solo is a relatively new trend that can make for a beautiful bridal moment. Don’t feel pressured to pick somebody to escort you if your father is not available. Enjoy every second walking down the aisle.
Have a Traditional Wedding Party
The Verdict: Besties are Best, this one should be your way! There are no guidelines to how large or small your party should be and equal numbers are not important. Don’t limit surrounding yourself to just ladies as bridesmaids and gentleman as groomsmen. If your best friend is a gentleman, let him stand on your side as a Man of Honor.
Assign Tables/Seats for Guests The Verdict: This is a keeper!
florals | rose and honey photos | sarah katherine davis
Leaving your guests to find a table for themselves can be awkward at best. You also risk families getting split up. Do the best you can with the knowledge you have of who might want to spend dinner with whom. Having escort cards will also expedite the process of guests taking their seat after cocktail hour. Remember, they are not stuck in this seat for the whole evening. If you don’t assign seats, plan on two extra tables to accommodate the uneven number of guests that will flow to open tables.
Send Paper Stationery
The Verdict: This is definitely still in play! Paper stationary is one of the last formal traditions that make a wedding special in the age of e-vites. Receiving a paper save the date, or invitation in the mail will make your guests feel special and get them excited for your wedding! You also get the chance to show your guests the first hint of what your wedding will be like through the stationary design. After the wedding, don’t forget thank you notes! LouisvilleWedding.com
