The year 2014 marks a 30 year celebration for Shah Tours & Travels Ltd., of assisting thousands from around the world in reaching the roof top of Africa and exploring the vast planes of Serengeti, Ngorongoro and much more! The journey for the company has been like a trek up Kili- manjaro! Since 1984, we have taken the necessary steps, through three different generations: the best of the past, present and future; to reach a larger goal that has earned us a reputation of being one of the most experienced, fully licensed and reliable tour operators in Tanzania. Nevertheless, we know that the journey does not end at the top of the mountain; you have to make your way back down! These tours are ideally located near Moshi and Kilimanjaro region and can be experienced during a day at leisure before or after a Kilimanjaro or Meru climb. Kilimanjaro overview: 5895 metres tall stands the highest free- standing mountain in the world and the tallest in Africa; Mount Kilimanjaro! The two main peaks include Kibo, which is the higher one out of the two and set as the main goal for most trekkers from around the world; and secondly, Mawenzi with its jagged points and pinnacles. Although Kilimanjaro lies three degrees south of the equator, one can encounter varieties of vegetation ranging from the forest, heather and moorland, alpine desert to the snow. The beauty of this mountain is that anyone can climb it without requiring any technical equipment or mountaineering expertise. The mountain offers six main ascent routes, including Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, Shira, Rongai and Umbwe; and two key descent routes: Mweka and Marangu.
Equipment: we utilise some of the highest quality items and brands including our four-season Hilleberg and Vaude tents, Snugpak four-season sleeping bags, Black Diamond walking poles and more. This aids in the probability of reaching Uhuru peak we feel, as the last thing you would want is poor equipment to let you down! The crew: we believe in providing the best mountain support team and are fortunate to have some of the most experienced and knowledgeable staff, including most guidbeen with us for more than 12 years; two of which have been with us for 25 years and have climbed Kilimanjaro es that have more than an unimaginable number of 1000 times! In over 30 years of operation, our clients have never got to the point of having severe health incidents on Kilimanjaro, which reveals the fact that the safety of our clients is paramount!
