ÂŤ design proposal for 17th-19th century european arts collection Âť
« a collective display of the craft of furniture and textile design » the unused long halls provides an excellent opportunity for the museum to focus in detail on their collection of these crafts. by combining the adjacency with wolfers-horta gallery, the museum can collectively dedicate a space for their permanent furniture and tapestry collection. the display units are designed such to allow for flexible change or replacement in individual pieces of the collection in time. « conceptual idea for exhibition display »
« space: enhance the linearity and and break the height » the space is linear and high. taking advantage of the height, an element of timeline (related to the collection) is installed as a linear strip on the long walls above eye level for people to navigate easily to a particular piece in the collection. it also breaks the scale of the height which balances the display pods of the pieces.
« conceptual idea for exhibition display »
« collection: focus on the craft » to single out the pieces individually by creating 3 reflecting planes around in order to focus on the build-scale-materiality-style of the art of furniture making and tapestry design
