Shaker Band Boosters Overview What do the Shaker Band Boosters Do? • Make annual grants to the Woodbury, Middle School and High School band programs to supplement their instrumental needs. • Organize the distribution and collection of the 400+ High School band uniforms. • Chaperone away football games. • Maintain the band website: www.shakerbands.org • Create the Band Boosters newsletters. • Promote band spirit through selling band merchandise. • Recognize graduating band seniors with a reception and gift. • Provide volunteers for various band events throughout the year. • Provide a pizza lunch for the high school summer marching band camp. • Sponsor the annual fundraisers, with all proceeds going directly to students saving for band trips. • Provide financial support for our fourth-grade instrument trials. • Fund the annual Shaker Bands Chamber Festival.

Has your band student outgrown his/her concert attire? Consider donating clean and gently used white shirts, black pants, black skirts or black shoes to the band program. The band directors maintain a supply of these items for emergency use by SMS and Woodbury band members. If you would like to donate concert attire, simply send it to one of the band directors with your student. Thank you!

WELCOME TO THE FIRST SHAKER MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND CONCERT! The Shaker Heights Middle School Band Program is off to a great start thanks to the efforts of our outstanding band directors as well as the students themselves! Returning after a Pandemic was challenging to everyone and our students and staff stepped up. Music takes a quantum leap forward at the Middle School. Communication with parents is a priority for us. We want you to have the information you need to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Here is where you can go for information about your student musician’s requirements and responsibilities: • Shakerbands.org is the official band website where you can find all the information on the entire Shaker Band program as well as details specific to each school’s band program and to the Band Boosters. On the Middle School page, you will find links to private music teachers, YouTube links to past performances and much more. • Watch for band announcements in the eScoop. You can sign up to receive this newsletter by going to the Middle School page on shaker.org. • Your Middle School Band representative is Nicol Coxon. You can contact her with questions at necoxon@yahoo.com . • Join us at the Band Boosters meetings! The next one is Monday, January 24 at 7 pm in the High School band room. Every 3 years, the Marching Band typically goes on an international trip. Due to Covid, our schedule was delayed a year, but we are hopeful to travel again for Spring Break 2023!! If your student is in the Band, you already ARE a Band Booster. By filling out the form in tonight’s program, you can become a Band Patron. Patron donations are tax-deductible, and you will be recognized in future concert programs. The Shaker Bands are the Pride of Shaker Heights.
