Playing shakespeare WITH DEUTSCHE BANK Globe Education’s acclaimed Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank productions are full-scale performances created especially for young people, performed in Shakespeare’s Globe. Each production is designed to support the teaching of English in the UK National Curriculum and leaves students and adults alike buzzing with the thrill of live theatre. The project offers so much more than an ordinary theatre trip. Students and staff are fully prepared for the experience of a performance. The process begins with heavily subsidised department-wide training on teaching the play. Introductory workshops for students familiarise them with characters and key themes, and online resources provide insight into the planning and rehearsal process. In addition, all show attendees can take home a programme packed with critical essays and insightful articles to extend discussions about the play on their return to school.

Performance Projects Shakespeare in Performance Teachers throughout the UK are working with Globe Education to produce performances of full or abridged Shakespeare plays in their schools. Teachers and their students are given expert guidance by Globe Education Practitioners, who are professional directors and actors, on how to create dynamic performances for their peers and other audiences. Performances can be developed for any setting – in a local theatre, a school hall, outdoors, or as a promenade piece. Projects are made to measure according to the needs of the group, and we always work around your school’s timetable and space.

Past projects have involved: • Continuing Professional Development from a Globe Education Practitioner on directing Shakespeare’s plays for Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5. • Abridged scripts adapted to the needs of the students and the curriculum. • A one hour storytelling session with a Globe Education Practitioner to introduce the play. • Workshops for students leading to a sharing for the school and families. • Schools working together to create an ensemble performance. • Advice, guidance and support for Drama GCSE and A-Level examination groups. • Support for transition between Key Stage 2 and 3. shakespearesglobe.com/education/ teachers/to-your-school/secondary
