Management and staff unite for noble cause
B
lood is a precious gift that saves lives and donating it is one of the most remarkable noble acts of service to humanity. The Motibhai Group took an initiative to organise a blood donation drive at the Motibhai Business Park in Nadi on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 and also at our Suva office on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Motibhai Group is commemorating its 90th Anniversary this year and as part of this milestone, this charitable event was organised for a good cause. The blood drive attracted considerable support from within the group with a total of 54 team members donating from both locations. Team members from the Fiji National Blood Services were present at both offices to check the blood pressure, weight and also the iron level in the blood for each team member before donating blood. Motibhai Group is very thankful to the Fiji National Blood Services team for their assistance and we look forward to seeing them again later this year for our next blood drive. These events would not be possible without the blessings of the directors, blood donors and the support of Motibhai’s 90th Anniversary committee members. In line with the 90th Anniversary, there are more events coming up this year to celebrate the company’s milestone achievement.

FMCG staff sharpen skills with training In the time of COVID-19 when businesses and entities are cutting costs to ensure survival – the Motibhai Group held a Sales and Merchandisers training despite the current circumstances. Motibhai Group director Rajesh Patel while addressing the participants of the training said that while these are not normal times – we saw it fitting to have held this training. He says this training session is for the betterment of the Sales and Merchandising staff as it improves their skills and brings in new learnings. He says it’s somewhat like a refresher and while this has been long overdue Patel says they would like to hold such exercises every now and then for the betterment of the organization. Motibhai Group Sales Reps and Merchandisers from all over the country participated in this training exercise. Through exercises like role play and many others the team underwent a refresher of when they initially began doing their job. The one day event was held at the Motibhai Group's Walubay Office in Suva.

Prouds PNG marks another milestone
Prouds Waigani Central which was the first ever domestic outlet for the luxury retailer in Papua New Guinea has turned two-years-old last month. The shop which is located in one of the busiest areas of Port Moresby has been well received by the general members of the public. The popular outlet now has a sister branch in Vision City Mega Mall as well that serves as the second store open to general members of the public. The Fijian retailer initially started operating in PNG via a joint venture between CPL Group of PNG and Motibhai Group of Fiji with two duty-free outlets at the Jackson’s International Airport. While those outlets are accessible to international travelers only, the two domestic outlets in Port Moresby are catering for general members of the public.

Address by Mr Arnol Narayan, General Manager Retail of Prouds during the quarterly managers meeting We have had an excellent two-days session with our Prouds managers. Given the fact that 2020 was a very difficult year and 2021 is predicted to be worse with the Fijian Economy expected to contract further, the retail industry throughout the globe has become very challenging with stiff competition coming from online stores and even small to medium operators. The general perception of people has now changed and if they are not satisfied with the products and services offered, these products can be easily brought in from anywhere around the world. Despite these challenges we remain optimistic. Christmas 2020
and Valentines trading this year has showed us the opportunities that we have in front of us. These results have obviously been achieved by the hard work of all our team members. Thank you all for a job well done. So this year we will be focusing on the opportunities that we have and the ideas that have been put forward by the team in order to achieve our goals. These goals cannot be achieved by individuals and requires team work. Remember a team can only be built by good leaders and a good leader is one who has strong moral values.

Chand shines at annual awards
Prouds Suva Central manager Nilesh Chand has been recognised as the “Best Manager of the Year 2020” during the annual awards night held last month. This is the second time Chand has been recognised for his hard work and dedication towards the company. Chand who started working for Prouds in 2003 as a frontline staff has dedicated his success to the management and the great team he works with. “A leader can only achieve success when they have a good team on board with the goals of the organisation clearly focused on the mind,” Mr Chand said. “This is my second one, I think the most important part of this recognition is about taking more responsibility, and I believe in demonstrating these values into actions as a leader. By having this conviction behind my words and actions, I have gained the experience to provide a direction to my team.”

tunate to have staff members whose many years of dedication, commitment and loyalty have shaped and contributed towards our successes. “Their contributions are nothing less than a mark of passion, perseverance and dedication. We are very proud to have such loyal and committed people representing our Motibhai
Group and we value their hard work, extensive knowledge and invaluable experience. “All employees are important members of our team and their abilities and contributions are of paramount importance for our continued success,” Ms Chandra said. She says every workplace needs someone who stands out
from the rest and be an inspiration for everyone. “Loyal and dedicated employees like you all are the foundation of our Motibhai family by showing commitment to achieve excellence. “Thank you for your contribution to our Group’s success!”
Addresss by Mr Kirit Patel, Motibhai Group chairman and CEO at the Prouds Annual Awards Night It’s makes a wonderful evening to see all of you here at Prouds Awards Night and on behalf of the Executives and Management I extend you all a warm welcome. I am fortunate to meet most of you at this occasion and let me take this opportunity to acknowledge from the outset the invaluable work led by everyone gathered here, and recognize especially those who are going above and beyond the call of duty. Tonight our top performers will be recognised for their hard work and I take this opportunity to congratulate all those who all will be receiving their respective awards. It goes without saying that the past year has been very challenging for our Group, and for our staff, both professionally and personally having to adapt to so many changes to our ways of working and our ways of life. We are collectively living through the most harrowing crisis of our lifetime, and as it began to unfold, global travel came to virtually a standstill. The revival of our tourism industry remain uncertain and with this being the case our Prouds Airport Duty-Free and seven hotel stores remains closed and only six town Prouds Stores remain operational. As we are already into the second month of 2021 with a hope to do better, I want to express my immense gratitude for all your hard work and resilience. I wish to thank you for everything we have accomplished together. Throughout this challenging experience, I have been inspired by all of you. Even in the worst of circumstances, I’ve seen the very best of us and you. The world needs human connection now more than ever, and I know that our employees and executives will rise to the occasion. I believe this because I believe in you. Your strength gives our businesses hope as we continue to meet hardship with courage and navigate what was surely the most unusual year we have ever faced. We have had an incredibly challenging, unanticipated, and unprecedented past 11 months or so. I want to commend all of you for

your swift transition to a new way of working and your unwavering dedication for operating our Prouds Stores. With your ongoing commitment and support, we entered 2021 encouraged and inspired to keep moving forward with expectations of a business prosperity and better future for all. Our Advertising, Marketing & Promotional plans will be tailor made to beat all the odds before us and make 2021 a successful year. Walking the talk I believe you all have taken these two days an opportunity to set targets and goals. No matter what year 2021 has in-store for us our Group this year will be commemorating the 90th anniversary of its founding with the motto, “Celebrating our Past, Inspiring our Future,”. We can celebrate together with our stakeholders and staff knowing that we have a strong workforce, our organisation is resilient and our focus will remain fixed on our vision for our Group of Companies notwithstanding the uncertain times we are in. We need you on this collective journey, as we unite to be better together as a resilient organisation. In closing, I appreciate all of you for your compassion and dedication of loyal employees. I am hopeful that this year will be exactly what we describe every January, a NEW YEAR filled with possibility and hope. Your success is going to be your humility. Colleagues and Executives, it will be a remiss of me not to express my/our most sincere appreciation and thanks to Tejash who is moving on for all his very valuable contribution to not only Prouds Operations but our Group as well. We will miss his counsel and inputs and would like to wish him the very best of success in his future endeavours and next journey. I wish you all the best in taking our Group and Prouds forward and please enjoy your rest of the evening.
