Lighting Design - Gravity This is an experimental light project I did with designer Jay Qian. The lamp translating the fluidity of water into a light performance. The form is a mimic of water faucet in a minimalist design language. Through the programming approach, the lamp is designed to be used in the way like how people use a faucet.

With this lamp, we also want to address
the issue of resource consumption. To-

hope that even though most kinds of the light in our daily lives are artificial,
we can still treat it as natural resource
and not take it for granted, If we do so, we can do less harm to the world.

which is good to produce product with
simple form or repetitive part in mass scale. To use extrusion as production
method, the product should be designed on a 2D basis, which means
the profile will define most of the shape. Fizz Functional Wall Hanger is

also brings the strength which makes it able to offer function other than a normal wall hanger.

Sand Casted Trowel - Rock This trowel design project is inspired
by a fabrication approach, sand casting. The interesting point is it is something designed to born from dirt (sand) and then serve in dirt. Sand casting
could be applied to most of the met-
al objects and its attributes allow me to create an elegant, seamless trowel
with a good ergonomic quality. The design won 2018 A’ Design award in Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries Design Category.

Through out the middle ages, it was

if it did, the food would taste gross and

common to see many spices used in
the food. However, enduring popularity of black pepper may owe itself to a picky eater, Louis XIV, who demanded
his food lightly seasoned, preferring
only salt and pepper be added. Since
the French cuisine developed then was the basis for what the western
world eats today, salt and pepper be-
come the standard. That could be said
the match of salt and pepper is formed because of a king’s personal preference. How autarchic!? This shaker
design project, therefore, attempts to break this stereotype. By making
a connectable modular shape which
always leave an opening as they con-
nect to another, it indicates that there is always another possibility.

Glue Gun Redesign - Gloo Hot glue is so important for designers
in almost every design discipline, but
there is only a few glue guns with de-
cent aesthetic appearance in the mar-
ket. Therefore, I started this project, a spontaneous glue gun re-design which began with a concept 2D rendering.
It is also a self reflection for me as a
designer. Knowing that it’s so easy to focus on drawing shapes but not pay-
ing attention to how the product actually works, this time I tried to fulfill the concept in the most engineering way that I can think of.
57
Between 2D sketch rendering and

what they did. In addition to making
3D modeling stage, there was a card not only the ergonomics but also the interior. I want to make the concept look less like a fantasy styling idea by making the design able to contain all
the necessary components. After an-
alyzing and referring to a glue gun, I modified an existing mechanism to fit
my design, and modeled all the parts
trying to make cool 3D animations like my rendering more realistic, the un-
derstanding of the interior of a product, manufacturing and assembling
knowledge are also very crucial. I challenged myself in all of these in this glue
gun re-design project, and attempted to make a more convincing proposal.

and assembling constraints in mind. Inspired by the product introduction videos from the leading companies
