Welcome to the first of many Form and Function sales to be held in Lloydminster! It’s been on our mind for a few years that there was a need for a sale in the area to further expose numerous breeders in the area. With so many practical minded operations that focus on the basic mechanics of having a sound cow herd that will stand the test of time it become more exciting with each farm visit this summer. When we were out selecting it was on the premise that the sale was putting it’s best foot forward with the best cattle we could source, it won’t take you more then a few pages to realize that we accomplished that mission quite easily. An offering that boasts genetic variance from different programs with quality at the first and foremost. A lineup of of bred heifers that are sound, broody and functional and with calving season in the not to distant future the opportunity to cash in on the coupon will happen quickly. Heifer calves that are prime for their new owners to take them home and add that new cow family into their program or add that show heifer that will provide some summer fun before they resume life as a matron of the herd. We have a select offering of proven cows that will make great addition to a growing herd or capitalize on their production records to date. Proven genetics are always in great demand. Be sure to join us December 13th to tour through the offering on display and visit with the breeders that are presenting these fine genetics to you. Sale Day, December 14th at 11AM be our guest for lunch and some hospitality prior to the sale at 1PM. Should you have any questions regarding the offering or are unable to make the sale please feel welcome to contact any of the consignors, sales staff or ourselves at Castlerock Marketing! See you sale day!

A very feminine heifer from a very strong cow family at Nesset Lake Angus. Her pedigree is loaded with calving ease and maternal bloodlines that some of our best cows stem from. Her granddam produced a Kodiak 5R son which was our highest-seller in 2016 to Rinas Stock Farm. This heifer will go out and work in anyone’s herd and be a top producer. The paternal granddam produced until she was 17 years of age and still had a perfect udder and sound foot structure. Her service sire, IDM 105C, was retained for our own use in breeding replacement heifers and his offspring came easy. AI’d April 18th/17 – Confirmed to 2nd cycle bull exposure (May 8 – August 1) to Nesset Lake Aberdeen 105C.

Syringa 51D turned alot of heads at the Sask Angus tour this summer. She is an ideal female, combining power and femininity and an excellent foot. The 2 cow families in her pedigree excel in fertility, production and longevity. She is sired by our feature Chism 82A herdbull in 2014 that sold to 66 Ranch. Suffice to say he has exceeded expectations, siring 196 calves in his first 3 years. She was AI bred to Stuart Cedar 7C on May 24. He is a royally bred Cedar Ridge son, whose first calf crop calved easily and look outstanding. Pasture exposure to Stuart Dominance 48C from May 26-July 20. She is ultrasounded safe to the AI date.

Lot 7 - A heifer that stems from a tremendous line of broody, deep-bodied cows. She goes back to the Bandolier bloodline which always seem to produce the top calves in our herd. Being a Tiger granddaughter, there is no question that she will work in anyone’s herd. The Insight females we have are front-pasture type of cattle and always stand out. Jenna didn’t want to part with any of her Insight bred heifers on the ground, but I was able to convince her to part with a heifer bred to Insight instead. A heifer we really hate part with but like they say if your going to town might as well bring real good one, so when Devin picked her out we decided to take her. A heifer that keeps impressing us day after day so we decided to show her and were ecstatic that she was second in class at the National Angus Show at Farmfair. Bred to calve Feb 1st to our herd bull Intimidator, his dam has been our show cow this fall.

Well if you were to build a pedigree with a bunch of great female making herdbulls in it this might be the one. Dogwood, Net Worth, Resource, and Wildfire. Need I say more! Then you put our Undiscovered 3U donor in there as well and you have one that is sure to make a mark on the industry. We think an awful lot of this cow family and what they offer to anyone’s program. Atalanta 17D is a prime example of what we are seeing from our senior herdsire, Angus Valley 802B. Angus Valley females are recognized industry wide as broody, big bodied, and tight uddered females, Atalanta will be no different. 17D comes from the most consistent and productive cow family at Roy Mac. The atalanta cow family is very maternal and the progeny continually rise to the top both in the replacement pen and bull pen. Here’s an outcross pedigree that is proven and sound, Jurassic, Eric and Blackman all worthy individuals to have in a pedigree. This gal is awful fancy with a sweet front end to her with an excellent hind leg with some timber underneath her. The Tex calf inside her will be a coupon well worth clipping! Exposed to RNRF TEX 84C RNRF 7C from May 30 to August 7.

316E is a fancy calf that is a standout for many reasons, her dam is a broody, productive 3 year old that sports a good udder and feet. 73R, the granddam raised 10 calves in becoming an anchor in our herd, again note the good Miss Eston cow family. Genetically we have a host of great breeding cattle in the pedigree, VRD, Freedom, Tiger and Widespread not to mention the great females that have contributed to this fancy heifer as well. This pair and her sire were also displayed on this summers Angus tour.

The Blackcap 59Z cow has been stellar in her production as all of her daughters have been retained with two full sisters to 335E are among the standouts. 59Z is a moderate framed cow but really throws performance into her calves. This pedigree we feel boasts a lot of terrific cows and maternal genetics that have influenced our herd in a very positive manner. 335E and her dam 59Z were also on display this summer.

334E comes right off the top of our replacement pen, and was displayed with her dam on this summers Angus tour where they garnered lots of interest. Her sire, Great Scot 44Z was also a crowd favourite for his individual phenotype and his top quality calves and his ideal two year old daughters! We think a lot of this Miss Eston cow family as 26U is an elite cow which we plan on keeping a herdsire from her as she is deep bodied, perfect uddered and feet that are great.

HRH 86E came to us in-dam through Marj Round’s 2016 dispersal. Her dam was a sale feature that day. She has a great udder, feet and is super feminine. The full sister to 86E was at side,as well as a 1/2 sister, which convinced us about this cow family. With a Sept 2 weaning weight of 836lbs, there is no doubt the production level is high in this heifer. The sire to 86E is Minburn Active Duty 48B. He was the $36,000 high selling bull to Marj Round, is now a herd sire at Windy Willows. We feel Rosebud 86E will go on to be a great addition to any herd.

This heifer is the complete package; smooth, deep bodied with good spring of rib. This is our first set of calves out of Nesset Lake Kodiak 50C which was purchased by Freeman Iwasiuk; we’re very happy we decided to draw semen before he left the farm. Her dam is a very good producing GBT Forte daughter. Forte always produced tidy-uddered females.

A Basin Payweight 107S daughter which are proving to be very functional cattle for us. They seem to have an extra rib, great disposition and good udder attachment making a very attractive package. The Basin Payweight genetics come with performance and the bull himself had the top sire group for RFI at Midland Bull Test on one of my tours down there. The heifer’s dam is another great GBT Forte daughter that we wish we had more of. Questioning why we’re parting with this one as Basin Payweight 107S semen is very rare to come across now.

If cow families are important, then the Neonia’s are the real deal. We are proud of this “Neonia” heifer calf, she is just March born powerful heifer calf. She is one the first progeny from the Anchor 1 Who’s That 9C to be offered for sale. This young sire has left a consistent group of bulls and heifers at KC Stock Farm his first time out. The Neonia cow family is a cornerstone of the JNJ cows. If you want to build a herd of cows with longevity, productivity and beautiful udders gather all of these Neonias’. This young heifer is even prettier on paper with Tiger 5T, Sitz Alliance, BT Touchdown and Duff Movin Up.

260E is a long deep bodied heifer with a feminine front end, out of a gorgeous uddered cow that Owen really liked this summer while out touring the pastures. 260E was picked by evryone that came out and toured the herds this summer, we felt we had to bring one of our best heifers to town. 260 is headed out this fall as part of our show string. She placed 3rd in class against a strong group of females at Stockade Roundup. This is the kind of heifer that will work in anyones herd.

Here is an interesting deal for us. This heifer came to us via some embryos we purchased from the late Buddy Loan from PEI, thanks to a connection from our good friend Larry Toner. She is a very intriguing package that is huge in volume and demanding in her appearance. Straight Canadian bred with some older and very proven genetics backing her. Pay attention here she will make a brood cow. Juniors remember our incentive program and this girl is a sweetheart to handle.

A real nice made moderate female from a first calf heifer. Generations of quality udders stacked on both sides of her pedigree. Juniors have a look at this prospect. She is an absolute pleasure to work with and is eligible for our junior incentive program as well. We have many Prince daughters in production here now and love how massive ribbed and easy fleshing they are. Very efficient in their production. This heifer will pay her way!

39E is a wide-based, deep, soggy heifer with an attractive, feminine look to her. Her Mother was purchased as a heifer calf at the 2014 Angus Collection Sale. Belvin Pansy has developed into a nicely made, correct female with an ideal udder and an excellent set of feet and legs. Her Sire, U2 Syndicate 238B, has left us with a group of impressive, easy-fleshing, well-muscled bull and heifer calves. Many of his daughters have been retained in our herd. This heifer is no exception and has the volume, angularity, and softness we all strive for so be sure to check her out!

We were very excited when approached about the Form and function sale and knew we had to bring the very best. Elluna 19E is exactly that, she is a very well balanced female possessing a lot of power and capacity but remaining very feminine. Johnston Angus Valley progeny have risen to the top at Roy Mac Angus and females look to be the backbone of our program for years to come. Her dam is a moderate cow and has done nothing but produce in her young career. We look forward to seeing the results of the same breeding this winter. Take a look at this fancy heifer with a unique pedigree.

I had the opportunity the purchase a package of females from Trevor Buchko at North Battleford,SK and I was fortunate enough to see results like Erica 55E. This heifer has front pasture cow written all over her form her flawless structure to her stacked pedigree. Wiwa Creek Monarch 53’08 comes from one of the oldest most well respected herds in Canada and is known for producing beautiful uddered, highly productive cows and I believe 55E will be no different. Combining Monarch with the female making power of her Thunder Dam takes the guess work out of this heifer. Come study her and her mother and see for yourself.

Lot 36 & 37 Choice Lots This nice pair of March born heifer calves sired by “Belvin Air Wolf ” may be the only females offered for sale from this gentle giant of a bull. Belvin Air Wolf 4’13 has left some awesome females at KC – Impeccable udders, longdeep bodied females – again the “Lady Blossom” influence in this cow family from Belvin Angus. This is another mother/daughter Idellette combo. The JNJ cows came to KC in 2016 from the Bedwells. This cow family was the base of Happyvale Angus herd. These Idellette cows are super productive – making them the largest cow family at KC.

10E is the result of coming across a batch of Minerts Fortune 2000 semen several years ago. We employed 2000 heavily in the mid nineties and had great success with his daughters. 10E is an affirmation of this faith ….. 10E is a daughter of MAR Innovation 251 out of one of those daughters of Minerts Fortune 2000. Very feminine through the front end, 10E has the depth and thickness sought out by cattlemen who look for efficient easy doing cattle. Genetics outside the box, performance and an eye appealing package …….. an easy decision.

In truth, 15E should have been cached away from Shane when he stopped by to select for this event ……. her dam by Density goes back to Greens Premium which did so much for Hamilton Farms at Cochrane……everyone of her six progeny have sold for breeding purposes. 15E’s adjusted 205 day weigh was 717 pounds and her EPD’s for weaning weight, yearling weight, milk and total maternal put her in the top ten percent for the breed. Combining this numbers with her thickness, body length and bone, 15E is set to follow in her dam’s footsteps ……. producing progeny who are in demand by astute cattlemen/women.

5E, a daughter of Tour of Duty 177, will catch your eye……soft made, long bodied and thick over the top. Her EPD’s put her in the top ten percent of the breed for weaning weight and yearling weight and in the top of the breed for milk and total maternal. Her dam by WMR Timeless 457 out of a Density female in just two calves has cemented a place in the herd. 5E has a full sister in the bred heifer pen. The Tour daughters while only bred yearlings look to be females which will go on to be productive growth females. Having displayed growth at this point and a classy phenotype, it is fitting that 5E is at the Form and Function event.

A pretty darn good heifer here that carries some powerhouse breeding in her lineage. Note she is double bred to 47’04 who boasted all sorts of performance and style. Great cow families make great females, Annie K , Adelphi Minnie and the great Oakleaf cow family that we think a bunch of, production has been fantastic.

Well this is a change, the first black female we have ever offered, and shes a dandy. This heifer was an in dam purchase from Lewis Farms in their female sale last December. Coming from the famed Diamond Mist cow family was very important, along with a stunning phenotype, 22C has done a great job on her first effort. 103E is exceptionally long bodied, stout made, and sound structured, with a pedigree built for calving ease and stacked with top producing, extremely popular cattle. Trust her to be a consistent producer of in demand progeny.

We are looking forward to these Red Lazy MC Spyder 149A daughters calving. Udder type should be excellent and we have found Spyder offspring to be correct in structure and easy fleshing. Foxy Dame 622D is a smooth made solid heifer. Her dam, Wanda 931W, is a very fertile cow with a good foot, strong udder and udder attachment, and lots of milk. This year she weaned off a mid February Boy Oh Boy calf at 829 lbs. 622D is an AI heifer from one of our foundation cow families, that is predictable and dependable. Service to Red Bar-E-L Cadet 1C from April 26-July 17. Cadet is a deep, dark red son of Red Crowfoot 4Aces2193Z that we used very successfully on heifers and cows. Fresh red genetics here. This heifer’s dam comes from the Geis Angus dispersal. The Lois family was prized and proven. Red Geis Lois 140’11 has the added freshness of black genetics and as good a set of black feet as you’ll ever see. Udder type to dream of, small well spaced teats and lots of milk. This year she weaned a March 3 bull calf at 828 lbs. Dazzle 689 is sired by Red Wilbar Boy Oh Boy 362B. This bull needs to be seen to be appreciated. Perfect feet, small Angus head, excellent offspring. He also carries the ideal udder type of Red Howe Finest Tradition 20W; neat small teats, lots of milk. Dazzle 689D is hard to part with. She carries great foot and udder qualities as well as production on both sides of her pedigree. This is a foundation cow line type of heifer with huge ROI potential. This heifer has been an eye catcher all year. Sired by the outcross Legacy bull that did a great job at Lazy MC, 39E is eye appealing with a balanced phenotype, big middle and elegant fronted. Her mother Foxy has become a staple of our donor program these last few years. Foxy’s flush of signature bull calves born in 2016 were popular with both purebred and commercial cattlemen alike and included the high selling bull in our 2017 bull sale. We have several flushmates at home to 39E, including a bull destined to be in the top cut in next springs sale. Whether it be making herd bulls or foundation females, this heifer has the tools to be a producer in any herd.

Once again a Bazinga female that exemplifies all the superior traits that we have grown very fond of from all our Bazinga progeny in just the first 2 calf crops. To say that Bazinga made an impact on our herd would be an understatement. Paternal Brother was the high selling bull calf and Grand Champion Bull at Red Round Up 2017, selling to Cinder Angus, Dwajo, and Brent Brewin. Paternal Brother has also been a champion for Rafter SJ that was purchased from us. The Lemay cow family has been quietly doing their thing in our herd for a number of years now; they have constantly been producing some of our top end calves every year. Cinder Angus purchased a maternal sister to 100E from the Northern Select a few years ago and she has been producing top end calves for them that have been through the Northern Select.

Here is a very attractive female that has come to the front of the pasture all summer. Larkaba is sweet fronted with lots of style and muscling throughout. She is correct on her feet and legs and is coming into herself very well. 57E has a stacked pedigree going from her sire Crossfire and YY Red Knight on the top side and Mission statement, EL Senro on the bottom side. Larkaba has lots of maternal and longevity in her background. Her Dam is young and has been a never miss so far. Larkaba will make a good show heifer or just a good addition to a herd.

HRH 112E is from none other than the famous Lassie cow family at KBJ. And to quote Rob “ Any chance to obtain a Lassie daughter, take advantage of it. “ The dam to 112E was the high selling red female in last fall’s KBJ dispersal. She is very broody, with a great udder and perfect feet under her. Her terrific bull calf at side sold to T-K angus and her 10 year old dam went to Eye Hill that day. We flushed 1080A very successfully this spring. She will be a cornerstone here for years to come. The sire to Lassie 112E is the $24,000 outcross lead off sale feature to KBJ in the Glesbar dispersal. Be sure to take a look at all the outcross genetics in this special heifer.
