Purchased in the spring of 2021, a calf who arguably carried the strongest hind quarter in the pen the day that we walked through. Possessing the absolutes that we require when we look to purchase a herd sire. His tidy, and different twist of pedigree enhanced the appeal. A tour through Dave Lamb’s cow herd to view his Dam was a great visit and enabled us to appreciate a number of his paternal sisters and maternal relations to solidify that this bull in fact has the ability to add or improve many strengths to our program. With a number of retained daughters in this first year that have performed extremely well, and a set of bull calves that will not be missed and appreciated for the early maturity which possessing a lighter birth weight option.

Was purchase in the spring of 2022, selected for his undeniable herd bull presence. A Kingsman son who we appreciated for his ample muscle and a genetic package that screamed keep every daughter, and make a solidify a set of correct and performance minded bulls in the bull sale pen. 52J was extremely quiet and easy to handle. He has successfully shared that with his calves. His Dam had also produced past high sellers for the Pedersen’s in the bull and female pens and was dam to a key donor female in their program. I was able to appraise both these females and feel their representation would be welcome in our herd. We lost 52J that same summer do to a fatal injury and have limited semen which we will use very carefully as we go forward after being impressed with this calf crop.

What better cross than to infuse Stellar on this Outside daughter. Stellar allows these young females to show their performance side, all while having that easy going attitude and a protile that makes them easy to pick out in the pen.
This guy packs a punch and has since early spring. He was the most photographed calf in April and still creating a stir now. From every angle this calf commands your attention . We don’t spend much time in the show ring, but his Grandam was purchased from the Chinook sale and was successfully shown by our niece Riley. She went on to win the SAAC futurity as a bred in 2017 and went on to win champion mature pair at Summer Synergy with this calfs dam at side in 2021. Our first year using Outlier and will be seeing our second instalment in spring of ‘25. It was an easy decision to stay this course when these calves got up and running all with modest Bw and all extra length and power out of first calf heifers. Just look at this guys performance 77 lbs birth weight and 892 actual weaning weight off a first calver. These calves hit the ground running and never looked back.

Semen was limited and we’ve used it carefully as they have exceeded our expectations in both demographics. From the new heifer bull Tahoe, used lights in this first season as he had a slightly late arrival. He sits in the top 9% of the breed for calving ease. The reason why we pursued owning this extremely exciting herdsire with New/Fresh genetics was to add an exciting new pedigree to the herd.
