Most brides and grooms are now getting married in their late 20s or early 30s. There’s a large list of what couples are spending on specifics for their wedding and photography comes in at number 3 for the third largest expense, with venue and reception band taking the top spots. Couples now spend over $30,000 just on their wedding day alone. The average cost of a wedding still runs nearly $20,000. For comparison, the median household income in the United States was $53,657. The average amount a couple says they will pay for videography at their wedding over the next year is $1,134. Engagement photography is also a significant part of the wedding expense equation. More than half of recently engaged couples plan to spend over $250 for engagement shoots.
More and more are turning to wedding experts to ensure their big day goes off smoothly. Coordinating a ceremony can be hard work, and 26% of couples hired a professional wedding planner in 2011.
