Dear Friends, I have received a lot of emails and letters from you enquiring about what is going on at your home away from home. In response to this I hope you will enjoy this quarterly E-newsletter. Please give me your feedback and comments on the content and what you would like to see in this E-newsletter, and we will do our best to accommodate them. As some of you are aware change is in the wind for 2010, and once I have full confirmation on the changes and dates I will be in contact with you all. I expect we will be in a position to do so by the end of January. I am confident that you will all be pleased with the changes we have proposed and that these changes will further enhance your experience with us. HAPPENINGS With Christmas and New Year's just around the corner, surf by http://www.shangri-la.com/en/property/kotakinabalu/tanjungaruresort/dining to find out what exciting activities we have in store for you this holiday season.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative Making a difference with mud balls Playing with mud has its advantages! On your next visit to the resort, stop by the leisure centre and enquire about our mud ball making and throwing activity. Not meant for throwing at each other, this fun and 'dirty' exercise is kid-approved and adult-tested for its educational benefits. Made up from a combination of clay, Bokashi and effective microorganisms (EM) these enriched 'magic' mud balls are extremely effective at inhibiting the growth of algae, and breaking down sludge and silt in drains and rivers.

Guest Comments Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Greetings! We stayed at your resort from October to November and had a fabulous time. We had chosen to upgrade to the Club floor and would like to specially mention your front desk associates who were very kind and helpful in upgrading us and even assisted with our late check out. Her name is Stacee and we would like to commend her for her helpfulness and efficiency. Also, your staff at the Club lounge, Feddy and Zarina were very kind and helpful is assisting us with our needs. Rest assured we will stay at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa next time we visit Kota Kinabalu. Beny Chua Philippines Having just returned to London, I am emailing to say thank you for providing such a fantastic venue for an enjoyable holiday. Following my years of international travel, I have never experienced such great service and warm hospitality from every member of the resort's staff. I was travelling with my parents who were celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary and they would like to say a big thank you for the lovely anniversary flowers & cake. Everything about your resort was perfect and provided us with a great location to relax and enjoy your part of the world. Your housekeeping and restaurant staff are definitely the best I have encountered in any hotel or resort I've stayed in. We had the best holiday possible and I will be recommending your resort to all my friends and family. Thank you once again and maybe we will see you again if we are lucky enough to return to Malaysia Mark, Kathega and Sheik Mohamed London, UK

Green Tips For You When every little bit counts Consider giving green gifts to wow your friends and family this festive season. • Dish out some cash on a potted plant that will help cleanse the air or herbs that can be used in cooking. • Encourage your friends to eat greener by giving them a cookbook that'll help them reduce the amount of meat they eat. • Nothing says appreciation like something made by you. If you are great at making jam or preserves, why not give some to your neighbour? It's a personal and sweet treat. • Everyone loves candles, but paraffin candles contribute to indoor air pollution. Try giving beeswax candle or nice soy candles. • There's nothing quite like a hot cup of tea to melt the stress away, so consider a selection of organic loose leaf teas as a perfect gift this season. • Wine is a universal and general crowd-pleaser gift, so why not do the planet a favour and make it Organic wine instead.
