OXO BIODEGRADABLE BAG

What is Oxo-biodegradable

Oxo-biodegradable plastic is made of petroleum-based raw materials and a small number of metal salts.

The metal makes it possible for the molecular structure of plastic to break down when exposed to heat and oxygen.

Oxo-biodegradable plastic degrades the second it reaches the open environment. In a landfill, the degradation of oxobiodegradable plastic will speed up if oxygen is accessible.​

In a splendid display of elegance and romance, we hosted our much-anticipated Bridal Fair on the 19th and 20th of August 2023, gracing both the resplendent Grand Ballroom and the charming Pavilion. This event proved to be a resounding success, filling our hearts with joy as we reveal that a remarkable total of 10 couples have joyfully entrusted us with their 2024 weddings. The collective anticipated revenue from these celebrations is an impressive RM525,000.

ASEAN Green Hotel Assessment

On 5th August 2023, TAH received 5 accessors from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard assessment. The ASEAN Green Hotel Standard is an initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable practices around ASEAN countries.

The result of the assessment will be released by end of this year.

Blood Donation in conjunction with TAH 40th Anniversary

TAH kick started its 40th anniversary celebration by organizing a blood donation drive. Sticking to our Doing Good belief, this blood donation drive was organized in collaboration with Sabah's Women and Children Hospital. A total of 37 blood bags were collected.

On 10 August 2023, a dedicated Anti-Terrorism team led by Inspector Hazli Kamaruzaman, accompanied by Sjn. Major. Murshid Muhammarun, and Kpl. Charles Marcus conducted a visit to Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu in response to a 'Threatening Email' received, which prompted the filing of a police report.

Task Force Opportunity to Shangri-la Taipei - TPE

Horizon Club Manager – Ms. Christina Ting had the opportunity to join Shangri-la Taipei TPE as a task force candidate. With her positive and "never give up" attitude, she managed to complete her 1-month task force successfully and received compliments from the management and colleagues from TPE.

We are confident that Ms. Christina has gained a lot of knowledge and have sharpened her skills during her tenure in TPE. We look forward to welcome new and fresh ideas from Christina to share with the entire team.

STAR Lounge New Water Dispenser

"Obsessed Over Customer Experience" it is our belief to ensure our guests have free-flow of hot and cold water at all times whilst using the STAR Lounge facility.

Reception Counter Newly Installed Passport Scanners

To enhance the efficiency and check-in pace of our front office, 5 passport scanners has been installed in the main reception counters.

With this new equipment, we can expedite the check-in process and we will soon eliminate manual profile updating process as these scanners automatically fill in guest details in OPMS.

CHEMICAL HEALTH RISK ASSESMENT (CHRA)

CHRA is one of the requirement for TAH as one of our compliance for Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standard of Exposure of Chemicals Hazardous to Health) Regulation 2000.

This assessment is required to be conducted once every 5 years.

The last assessment by CHRA was conducted in 2018 for Hotel Building and in 2019 for STAR Marina. This year, in 2023 we combined and conducted into one assessment on August 8, 2023. .

We were supported by relevant departments such as Housekeeping, Laundry, Engineering, Landscaping, Stewarding, Chi, The Spa and STAR Marina.
