Due to the lockdown of Covid-19, tips and landfill sights have been closed for over a month, therefore people have been dumping their rubbish in local fields and parks. The imagery used in this booklet are taken by me and are of the field by my neighbourhood. I want to reveal how bad this problem actually is but I also want to showcase how stunning nature is when people haven’t ruined it. Climate change is a real thing. Within this booklet you will see the rubbish and waste people are leaving behind, beautiful scenes of nature, ways YOU can help within this world issue and some shocking facts that I didn’t even know. As well as a little snipit of what our prime minister is doing surrounding this crisis- using statements from the news, various interviews and his own quotes. Take a look at what the audience thinks of these statmentsthe people from different party’s, who love him and hate him. Have a look and see what you think... We only have one earth. So look after it.
WHY?
Pretty.

BORIS JOHNSON 1- “Of course it’s expensive, of course it’s difficult, it will require thought and change and action, people will say it’s impossible and it can’t be done, and my message to you all this morning is that they are wrong. I hope it will be a defining year of action for our country, and indeed for our planet, on tackling climate change but also on protecting the natural world.” 2- “The evidence is overwhelming, and this phenomenon of global warming is taking its toll on the most vulnerable populations around the planet.” 3- “There is no evidence that the planet is suffering from the extreme weather patterns associated with climate change”
4- “We must reverse the appalling loss of habitats and species. We are running out of time.” 5- “I want the U.K. to be the cleanest and greenest place in the world.”
NEGATIVE: Before becoming prime minister, Johnson voted against a measure to stop climate change and backed a measure to increase taxes on renewable energy, but then criticised President Donald Trump for backing out of the Paris Agreement on climate change. The U.K. is “miles off track” on meeting its own climate goals and is further behind than other countires; like Germany and France. The United Kingdom’s new leader is being labeled an enemy of climate science and an ally of President Trump. POSITIVE: Boris Johnson initiated a trial of fully electric buses, raised diesel charges, improved cycling networks and encouraged tree planting and zero-emission taxis. Boris Johnson has committed to zero emissions by 2050, recommended electric cars, insulation for houses, solar energy and farm winds. In the last seven months he has mentioned climate change in Parliamentary sessions more times than during the rest of his time as a Member of Parliament put together.

THE PUBLIC’S OPINIONS
THE PUBLIC’S OPINIONS
“Some people change once they become in power. From what I’ve heard he has played a rather large part in the climate change fight.”
“I’m not shocked by that first statment at all, he’s too obsessed with making profit and dealing with the higher class people. He’s the type of person to say he ‘doesn’t believe in climate change.”
“He use to ride a bike everywhere he went before he was prime minister and his finace is an environmental activist, so he must care about global warming and our planet.”
“If you look at what other countries are doing and compare them with what we’re doing, we’re so far behind.”
“That first statement was probably from ages ago. He has committed to zero emission by 2050 and has been advising people to bike/ walk more.”
“Let’s just say if Corbyn was in charge, we’ll be sorted. Even with the coronavirus, things would have been dealt better. But hey ho.”
“I understand that climate change is really important but dealing with this pandemic is our main priority right now. As soon as the virus has calmed down, I’m sure Boris will have a plan for climate change.”
“I don’t think many other political leaders are doing anything about it either to be honest, we’re all just as bad as everyone else with this matter.”
“I think if everyone does their part in helping to prevent climate change, we’ll be fine.”
“I mean I do hope Boris has a plan for climate change. We’ll just have to see really. I’m sure there is a plan of some sort, just have to wait and see really.”

PREVENT LITTERING
PREVENT CLIMATE CHANGE
-Keep a litter bag in your car and hang on to litter until you find a bin- don’t just throw it out your window. Even with cigarette butts, they’re just as bad as any other litter.
-Conserve water! Not using it? Turn it off. Don’t leave it on all the time, it’s a waste.
-Report litterbugs at https://www.gov.uk/ report-litter. (they can get up to £100 fine) -Make sure your bins have tight-fitting lids so the litter doesn’t escape the bin. Especially your black outdoor bins, you don’t want rubbish floating around your house and neither does your neighbour.
-Reduce your waste! Make a habit of recycling. -Walk & travel green! Less pollution, more benefits. -Generate clean green energy! renewable energy in your homes.
Install
-Share with others the proper way to dispose of rubbish. Tell your friends.
-Stand up & get involved! Voice out your concerns and sign petitions. If you see something you don’t like that involves climate change, say something!
-Provide plenty of containers for rubbish and recyclables around your work place/ home. If there are more bins around then people can’t have an excuse for littering.
-Join campaignes and protests! Everyone is looking for people to join protests and the more protests there are the more people will listen.
FACTS: -The average person produces about 4.4 pounds of garbage each day. -75% of the waste we produce is recyclable, only about 30% actually makes it to a recycling center. -Hazardous chemicals can leach out of the litter and pollute the soil and water bodies located nearby. -Approximately 1 million sea birds also die from plastic. -A plastic bag can kill numerous animals because they take so long to disintegrate. -Over 100,000 turtles and marine mammals; such as dolphines, whales and seals are killed by plastic marine litter every year around the world.
