Black Girl Magic [blak ɡərl ˈmajik] noun Black girl magic (n.) is that undeniable, can’t-put-your-finger-on-it spark that makes everything a Black woman does the epitome of excellence. From the way we walk, the way we talk, the way we show up and show out, it’s a little bit of sugar, spice and everything nice.

nation. The city's handsome Moresque buildings, which meld French-colonial design and traditional Moroccan style, seen best downtown area, the Quartier Habous and in the beachside suburb of Ain Diab, and the flamboyant building of Hassan II Mosque (exterior). Continue to your hotel to freshen up. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax. Late in the evening, enjoy your "TRAVEL DIVAS WELCOME DINNER" at the hotel then overnight.

DAY 3

MONDAY - JUN 14, 2021 Casablanca, Rabat, Fes After breakfast, enjoy a short tour of the capital of Morocco, Rabat. You will enjoy a short walk of the Mohammed V Mausoleum. Mosaics rise from the marble floor to a ceiling of gold leaf and hand-carved cedar wood, while the three ground-floor tombs are carved from white onyx. Next to the Mausoleum is Le Tour Hassan (the Hassan Tower), which is the towering minaret of the Hassan Mosque, which began construc-

tion in 1195. The morning ends with a visit to the Kasbah of the Udayas, Rabat's medina. This is the fortification constructed on a mountain, overlooking the ocean. The Kasbah was constructed during the realm of the Almohads. Inside the Kasbah one can come across Andalusian gardens full of orange trees, flowers and palms. Drive to Fes and check in to the hotel and relax. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4

TUESDAY - JUN 15, 2021 Fes, City Tour - Welcome to Fes, the most monumental of the Imperial Cities. The medina of Fes el-Bali (Old Fez), a World Heritage site, is the city's great draw card. It's an assault on the senses, a warren of narrow lanes and covered bazaars bursting with aromatic food stands, craft workshops, mosques and an endless parade of people. In the souks of its famed medina, experience a cornucopia of sights, sounds and smells. We will walk along narrow, uneven alleyways, with daylight filtering down from above high gray walls, flanked by tables heaped with spices,

dried fruits, fresh fish or silk and leather garments. They've been selling goods and working metal by hand in the medina since medieval times, and today's generation works in the same stalls their ancestors once did. And everywhere, there are cats, scrounging, prowling and sleeping - the mascots of the medina. Here, in the heart of Fez, the old and the new constantly collide and the man driving the donkeys and mules is likely to be chatting on his mobile phone, while the ancient skyline is punctuated equally with satellite dishes and minarets. The city tour will include Bab Boujloud, Mellah, Jamaa Al-Karaouine the oldest continually operating university in the world. Founded in 859, virtually every surface of its quiet inner courtyard is decorated with highly detailed, delicately carved geometric patterns. Entering this graceful place hidden in the medina, lifts a veil on an ancient culture that once kept outsiders at arm's length. The Medersa Bouanania complex is the spiritual heart of Fez & Morocco. The Chaouwara tanneries are the city's most iconic sights (and smells), offering a unique window into the pungent, natural process

of producing world-class leather by methods that have changed little since medieval times. After that and time permitting, we will visit clay workshops, artisan quarters, the souks of largest and oldest medina in Morocco and Batha Museum (a former Royal Palace converted into a museum in 1916 with over 6,000 collections). Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

DAY 5

WEDNESDAY- JUN 16, 2021 Fes, Volubilis, Meknes, Fes - After breakfast, we drive to the ancient Roman city of Volubilis to explore its stunning ruins. Impressive stone arches and columns, some tumbled down and others still standing tall against the vivid blue sky, invite us to take a step back in time. Only about half of the 40-hectare UNESCO site at Volubilis has been excavated. The better-known monuments are in the northern part of the site, farthest from the entrance in the south: The Capitol, dedicated to the Triad of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, dates to 218AD the Basilica and 1300 sq. meter Forum are nearby. Here, floors of

what were once family dwellings are still covered with decorative tile mosaics depicting mythological beings, such as Orpheus charming animals with his lyre and Hercules performing his legendary 12 labors. That so many of these tiles are still in place and exhibiting their colors after centuries of exposure to the elements, is astonishing. Next, we will visit the whitewashed town of Moulay Idriss, about 2 miles from Volubilis. It sits astride two green hills in a cradle of mountains, where Morocco's first Arab conquerors

settled. Off to the Imperial city of Meknes, the one-time home of the Moroccan sultanate with its all-winding narrow streets in the medina and grand buildings that warrant it as an imperial city. Remnants of three sets of fortifications, ingeniously incorporated into the city's road networks, emphasize its past importance & glory. The king's tomb sits at the heart of what remains of the original imperial city, flanked by the magnificent Bab el-Mansour. Drive back to Fes for dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 6

THURSDAY - JUN 17, 2021 Fes, Ifrane, Benni Mellal, Marrakech - Departure to Marrakesh passing by the Berber village of Immouzer du Kandar and Ifrane (In case of bad weather in winter time, itinerary can be modified via Meknes, Adaroch passing by farms and of husbandry cows, Mrirert, Khenifra). Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 7

FRIDAY - JUN 18, 2021 Marrakech, City Tour - Unearth the secrets of Marrakech, beginning in the medina, the old walled section of town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This thousand-year-old city was long a political, economic and cultural center. Marvel at its architectural jewels, including the soaring Koutoubia minaret. Continue to the Bahia Palace, an exemplary specimen of privileged life in the 19th century. Your next stop is at the Tiskiwin Museum (Maison Tiskiwin), which houses an impressive collection of North African arts and crafts. The museum, which was founded by a Dutch anthropologist, is organized into geographically themed exhibits, with each room focusing on artifacts from different towns and regions along the ancient trade route from Marrakech to Timbuktu. The works on display include exquisite hand-woven carpets and textiles, traditional Berber clothing and jewelry, intricate basketwork and tribal handicrafts. Later you visit Djemaa el-Fna, Marrakech's main square, which is filled with orange juice stalls and vendors, along with fire-eaters, mime artists, snake-charmers and street musicians performing at every turn. You may also take the opportunity to explore the city's fabled, labyrinthine souks, their bustling alleyways brimming with all manner of wares. Following your visit, return to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure, a perfect opportunity to freshen up and get ready for a dinner then overnight at the hotel.

fast at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure or wander on your own. At 4PM, departure to discover Marrakech's green oasis from the top of a camel through the Palm grove. After a safety briefing, wear your Nomad dress with the Shesh (turban) and climb into the saddle on the back of a camel and relax as you enjoy a ride through the verdant palms, after 30 min ride you will stop for a break in a Berber tent to enjoy snack and mint tea in the open air, after that you will take your camel again to continue the ride, take your camera out to snap some photos of the beautiful

MAKING

to be done for you.

You’ll Be Healthier

A PRIORITY IS AN ACT OF LOVE

Constantly putting others before you is stressful. That alone can take a toll on your physical and mental well-being. If you’re not getting a good night’s rest regularly and eating well, you’re also bound to see negative effects to your overall health. Taking time to see to it that you’re taking good care of your body and mind is self-care that is necessary.

You’ll Feel Happier

You’ll simply feel happier when you start to do the things you enjoy and make a concerted effort to prioritize yourself. While caring for others and being generous can bring satisfaction, focusing exclusively on others is apt to burn you out. Making sure your wants and needs are met will lead to contentment. In order to achieve true life satisfaction, you need to address all aspects of it. This includes focusing on yourself.

You’ll Have More to Give

Putting yourself first is crucial when it comes to self-care. You have to be able and willing to believe that you deserve to consider your own needs, feelings, interests and comfort if you’re going to truly excel at taking care of yourself. It truly is not selfish to prioritize yourself. In fact, making you a priority is an act of love. It’s good for you and for others when you take the time to engage in self-care. Let me show you what I mean.

30

www.thetraveldivas.com

You’ll Be More Confident

When you make yourself a priority, you’ll slowly begin to see that what you want matters. This is something you may be resistant to at first, especially if you’ve been taught to always put others first. It’s hard to step out of the role of caregiver or people pleaser. The more you do it, the easier it will be to see your own value. You’ll become more confident in yourself and your ability to do what needs

Finally, the truth is, you’ll simply have more energy to give to others and to pay attention to their needs when you’re caring for yourself. Think of the advice flight attendants give to put on your own oxygen mask before attending to those around you. It’s like that. You can’t properly give of yourself to others if you aren’t addressing your own needs. These are just some of the many advantages that come with prioritizing yourself. It’s not selfish. Doing so will help you to be a better person who has more energy to devote to the important people in your life.

Wanna make sure you’re catching flights, sunshine and good vibes … and not a cold or some other fun-killing illness? We put together a few tips to help you stay healthy while traveling. Getting sick is SO not the vibe. Here are a few ways you can stay healthy: GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP: Sleep is how we replenish our bodies, so prioritize your rest ahead, during and after the trip. PACE YOURSELF: It’s easy to let the excitement get to you, but

don’t overdo it trying to go on every tour offered throughout your vaca. Rest as need be. BREATHE: Girlfriend, travel anxiety is R.E.A.L. If you find yourself feeling anxious, take a deep breath, hold it and then exhale – then repeat a few times more.

destination. PUT ON THAT SPF: While it’s true Black doesn’t crack, it can still burn. Bring a hat, scarf, sunglasses and SPF because sunburn is not where the fun resides.

EXERCISE: Move your bawdy, sis! Just 30 minutes will do wonders – even if it’s just a brisk walk.

Also, if you’re currently under the care of a physician, advise them you’re traveling and see if they have any additional medical advice for you.

EAT BREAKFAST: It’s the most important meal of the day for a reason. Divas prep their day by fueling their body with breakfast.

Keep up with your prescribed medicine while traveling and account for any delays you may have.

HYDRATE: Drink that water! Aim for at least 8 cups (maybe more if you’re active or in a hot place). SANITIZE: Unfortunately, germs are everywhere. Ugh, we know. So, before you put any food in your mood, wash your hands and hand sanitize.

GIRL, GET SOME SLEEP We know this one’s hard, but pack several days before by creating a packing list, getting some exercise, drinking some soothing teas, AND then slip under the covers at a decent time to get a full night’s sleep the night before. STAY HYDRATED Water is the source of life. It’ll keep your body running on 100 and help your blood flow.

STAY ENTERTAINED Download the whole season of Bridgerton (or the latest Netflix series), bring books you’ve been dying to finish and download all your fav Apple Music & Spotify playlists so you can podcast and jam on the plane.

STAY AWAY FROM THE ALCOHOL AND CAFFEINE Sis, we know it might be tempting, but both caffeine and alcohol dehydrate you and decrease your blood circulation. No go's for a smooth-sailing flight.

STAY FLY AND PACK AN AIRPLANE KIT Get out your favorite eye mask, lotion with SPF and hand cream (no, the plane windows do not block UV rays and yes, you can damage your skin being closer to the sun at 20,000 feet up), face cream and hand sanitizer; as well as a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss.

STAY ON YOUR DESTINATION’S TIME ZONE As soon as you get on the plane, switch your clock to your getaway’s time zone and try to sleep during the night time of that destination. STAY MAGICAL Black girl magic can’t be bought, but you can sure bring some of that spirit on the plane with you.
