Eco Shed 01

EcoShed 01 was commissioned by the Hammersmith Community Garden Association to be a building that ‘touches the ground lightly’. In private corner site at Loris Gardens in Hammersmith, the building fulfils the educational and community functions that the charity provide. Throughout recycled and re-used materials are employed. A number of second-hand doors are used as balustrading, internal seats and worktops. The sink is reclaimed as is the vinyl flooring. Externally the building sits on a series of concrete pads to minimise excavation and the external store is ‘hung’ from the roof projection. A dynamic roof pitch is used to unify the elements below. The roof is formed in sedum to further the sustainable agenda and to disappear amongst the various gardens it sits between. To reduce the miles travelled associated with the project the Contractor Ecolibrium built the building in their works in Kent and ‘delivered’ it to site.
