Justice not profit is the bottom line
Imagine if you could invest in a fairer world
Imagine if you could change lives by investing just ÂŁ100
Shared Interest is an ethical investment organisation. We act co-operatively, which means we are owned by our UK investors, who want to be part of a fairer world. We use their investment to provide fair finance to fair trade farmers and handcraft makers across the globe. When you become an investor, your money is held in a Share Account, which you can top up to a maximum of ÂŁ100,000. You can earn interest on your investment. You can also withdraw your money if you need it again. However, while it is with Shared Interest, you can be sure that your money is doing amazing things. Shared Interest offers loans and credit facilities to ensure that farmers are paid on time for their crops. Our finance helps handcraft organisations to buy raw materials, and enables co-operatives to pre-finance orders from their overseas buyers.
We couldn’t do this without our loyal investors.
Richard has been an investor since Shared Interest was founded in 1990. Richard said: “My wife and I lived in Nairobi and saw the struggles people faced. We liked the idea that trade could be fair as well as free. “You only have to read Shared Interest’s newsletter to see how valuable it is to invest in small producers who may struggle to find finance elsewhere.”
Liz heard about Shared Interest when she inherited a small pot of money. “I wanted my money to do some good in the world. Shared Interest chimed perfectly with my intentions. “As a member, you get to hear directly from the people who benefit. This gives me enormous satisfaction that what we do is unique, sustainable and fair.”

Enriching the lives of others USA-based Andean Naturals uses a Shared Interest loan to offer 4,000 Bolivian quinoa farmers pre-harvest payments. “My name is Efigenia and I am a member of Suma Kamaña, an association of women quinoa farmers. Our name means “to live well” in the ancient Aymara language of the Andes mountains. We are dedicated to the well-being of a community that has been growing quinoa in the polar desert of the Altiplano for countless generations. Thank you to all who invest their money with Shared Interest. This means that we receive a fair price for our quinoa before it is sold to consumers in North America.”
