Howard Levy, a double Grammy award winner, is an acknowledged master of the diatonic harmonica, a superb pianist, innovative composer, recording artist, bandleader, teacher and producer who calls Chicagoland his home.

Yet, he intrigues audiences worldwide by performing a collage of musical genres including Jazz, Classical, Rock, Folk, Latin and other internationally-inspired combinations. As a recording artist, his music is sought after by many well-known artists such as Kenny Loggins, Dolly Parton, Paquito D’Rivera, Styx, Donald Fagen, and Paul Simon. As a sideman, Howard has appeared on hundreds of CDs and played on many movie soundtracks.

Best known for his work with Bela Fleck and The Flecktones in the early 1990s, Howard and the band won two Grammys: Best Pop Instrumental for ‘Sinister Minister,’ and Best Instrumental Composition for ‘Life in Eleven.’

“The tour de force, however, came when Levy – also an accomplished pianist – sat down to the grand to accompany himself… Close your eyes and you could have sworn a very sensitive pianist was working with an uncommonly expressive harmonica player. In a way, that’s what happened, but both roles were rendered by the same person…”
