Every week, Honors student and biology major Tye Turner spends 7 to 8 hours in the lab working on undergraduate research. It’s exactly this opportunity to work individually with Dominican faculty on meaningful, significant research projects that Tye feels will set him apart in the eyes of graduate schools.
It’s an amazing thing to see someone’s passion, knowledge and curiosity in
“An important part of Dominican when compared to other universities is the ability to engage in such extensive undergraduate research. When it comes to getting into graduate school, a lot of undergraduates haven’t had those opportunities.”

That’s Dominican. Dominican’s location just minutes from downtown Chicago was a key factor in Justyna Gajda’s decision to attend. As part of Dominican’s innovative MB Fellows Program, a joint offering with Chicago’s MB Financial Bank, Justyna has received ongoing personal, professional mentorship from an upper-level executive at MB Financial.
“Being close to home, as well as in such close proximity to Chicago, is extremely helpful as a finance major. There are so many academic and professional opportunities, like the MB Fellows Program.”

At Dominican, you’ll explore new areas of study, see how different academic areas and different faiths intersect, and in the end you’ll be the kind of adaptable thinker, effective communicator and creative problem solver the world needs.
Learning at a higher level.
That’s Dominican. When Megan Strong was exploring internships, instead of Europe, the fashion design major took the unconventional route and opted for Bangladesh. There, she could work with clients from all over the world and focus on function as much as fashion. The experience paid off. After returning home, Megan’s own collection of designs, based on her internship experience, earned her a prestigious scholarship from Fashion Group International in Chicago.
“Throughout the internship, the CEO was really impressed with my work. He told me I went above and beyond his expectations. I told him that’s just how Dominican students are.” 4

When you visit our beautiful campus in River Forest, Illinois, you’ll see that “community” is more than just a word. Through collaboration and support, inspiration and opportunities to forge enduring relationships, life at Dominican is shared with an uncommon spirit and pride.
A collaborative community. That’s Dominican. As a recipient of the prestigious Alice Welsh Skilling Scholarship for art, Michael Curiel knew Dominican would offer an intimate, close-knit environment for him to develop his creative abilities. What surprised him, however, was all the different medias of art and design that are part of the curriculum—from sculpture to photography—resulting in an uncommonly well-rounded skill set.
“Dominican will open so many doors. Whether I’m designing for an agency in Chicago, trekking the globe as a photographer for National Geographic, or enlightening the minds of future creatives, I know I’ll be ready to take on any challenge.” 10

Integrity. Patience. Dedication. For Mosam Amin, those are the characteristics necessary to succeed academically and in extracurricular pursuits at Dominican. She would know. The Dominican junior has been active in the Student Government Association since her freshman year, along with many other activities, and believes it’s given her the necessary preparation to achieve her goal of attending dental school.
“Dominican has challenged me in so many different ways, from my perspective to my faith to my intelligence. This has prepared me not only for dental school, which will be very hard, but also to meet and overcome new challenges throughout life.”
