By FERRY ~ Washington State Ferries offers several runs from Anacortes at 2100 Ferry Terminal Rd to the major Islands each day starting at 5:30 A.M. & returning around midnight. FLYING ~ For those wanting to see the incredible Island & Mountain views by air, there are four companies to choose from. All are located in Anacortes and have daily scheduled flights to the major islands and non ferry islands as well. GETTING TO ANACORTES, WA Anacortes is in Skagit County west of Mount Vernon. Travel on I-5 to exit 230 and turn West on Hwy 20. Follow Hwy 20 to Anacortes. Anacortes is on Fidalgo Island, which is also part of the San Juan Islands. Anacortes is referred to as the 'Gateway to the San Juans' . Fidalgo Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Once in Anacortes, merge onto Commercial Avenue and travel to 12th street. Turn Left and follow the signs to the Ferry Terminal or to the Anacortes Airport.
