Barbara Haxton, founding Executive Director of the Ohio Head Start Association, Inc. (OHSAI) retired from the organization after leading it for 45 years.

Haxton, 88, is beloved and recognized nationally as an exemplary Head Start leader and advocate. Her tireless efforts and bold leadership have benefitted countless children and families, inspired others to lead with passion and conviction and solidified Head Start as the gold standard of early care and education.

“I have learned so much from you and I just thank you,” LCCAA Head Start Director Shauna Matelski said to Haxton in a farewell message., noting she has known Haxton for 30 years.

“I also know your heart is always with Head Start. You will always be a part of us.”
