Analysis
The study area was between the junction of Bras Basah road/Selegie Road and the Junction of Selegie Road/ Sophia Road and Prinsep Link Prinsep St junction.
I chose to locate my newspaper kiosk between a bus stop and taxi stand along the busy stretch outside PoMo, Parklane Mall and Peace Centre where both comfort and convenience could be provided to customers.
Site Analysis
Greenery across the roads could be seen from within the kiosk’s reading corner.

Design
The curved staircases which also serve as magazine racks allow the kiosk to be visible to human traffic flowing in either direction.
The unique shape of the roof allows the kiosk to stand out from the flat roofs of the bus stop and taxi stand
The book shelf also serves as a storage system as it can opened and closed with the swing door that swings upwards.

The Cardboard house
After a voting was conducted, we decided to build the 1:1 scale cardboard house of our studiomate Gabriel Png, whose design was inspired by Mies Van der Rohe’s Tugendhat House.

As my first year in Architecture school comes to an end, I look back at the hectic days of rushing through assignments and cannot help but feel a sense of achievement. The year has been challenging yet fulfilling, teaching me lifelong lessons as well as broadening my knowledge on architecture by leaps and bounds. All the setbacks faced serve as motiva-
tion to produce better work and have fueled my passion for Architecture. This semester has been fun and interesting with assignments which are more relatable to real life instances such as constructing a dormitory and a kiosk according to human anthropometry. I would like to thank my tutor Mr Roland Sharpe for his constant guidance and advice, letting me realise the potential of my very initial ideas. I would also like to thank my studio mates for contributing equal amounts of effort into the construction project and the fun working atmosphere.
