Q: How is TOBI different from the Solucient data we are using now?

A: TOBI benchmarks are defined in very clear, intuitive terms for oncology instead of confusing or highly general measures like “timed work units” or “procedures.” TOBI benchmarks also include more than staffing per the defined service volume – we look at physical resources like “per chemo chair” and “per linac” as well as at case volumes from the tumor registry.

Q: What are the differences between TOBI and the Oncology Roundtable?

A: We calculate your performance for you as compared to the rest of the membership rather than just showing you the performance of just one institution.

And TOBI data is updated every year so you can trend it and not just rely on a one-time data point.

Our education and networking topics are chosen by you the members rather than by our staff members.

Additionally, all TOBI staffers are long-time oncology experts, several with decades of hospital specific expertise!

Q: Is it difficult to submit our data to TOBI? A: Not at all. There is a simple questionnaire – about 20 questions – each year for you to fill out. The main data comes from an electronic upload from your billing system and most systems already have the report we need built in.

Q: Why do we need to have a chart review?

A: TOBI’s success (and that of our members!) depends on receiving good, solid data from our members and we all know how hard it can be to bill oncology appropriately. So we give each new member a free chart review to be sure that the data we receive is “clean.”

Q: Is our data private?

A: Absolutely. Whenever the data is presented in any manner, the individual members’ identity is masked completely.

Q: How often is the data updated?

A: TOBI benchmark data will be run annually although in the future we may move to more frequent periods if the membership wishes.

Q: What if I can’t join until late in the year because of my budget cycle?

A: Not a problem! As long as your membership becomes active and the data can be transferred before analysis begins, you can be included.
