EDITOR’S NOTE

Greetings and welcome to the fourth edition of the MIID Newsletter 2020!

I hope everyone is coping well and staying positive under the current circumstances. At the moment, the number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia seems to be under control, which is a positive sign. However, we are all feeling the economic impact of this pandemic in one way or another. Despite this, the editorial team is keen to continue producing the MIID Newsletter to keep everyone updated and inspired on the Interior Design profession in the nation.

First off, I would like to inform all that the submission period for the MIID REKA Awards 2020 for both Design Excellence and Industry Excellence has been extended till 30 th September 2020, as we understand that the current situation may have disrupted to your practice, hence requiring more time to prepare your entries. Do submit your entries as early as possible!

Following our Council Meeting in July, the council had agreed to proceed with several events, namely, REKA Design Week (MIID REKA Conference & RIDA Awards), MIID Annual Ball and Awards Night, REKA Workshops and Education Seminars. Details for the events will be updated on our website as they become available.

In this edition, Mr. Joseph Wong Fook Ming from The Star Media Group has contributed yet another piece, this time discussing the challenges Interior Designers might face as a result of this pandemic.
