has been an exciting year for the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce! As I move into my second year at the Chamber, we’ve expanded our programs, introduced new educational resources, and created even more opportunities for our members to grow their relationships organically.
I want to remind you that when you shop in Bolingbrook, $.68 of every dollar spent is reinvested back into our community. BOLINGBROOK PARK DISTRICT FOCUSED ON FUTURE FUN
With two community centers, indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, skate parks, a sports complex, a conservation area, and 50 parks, the Bolingbrook Park District is proud to have something for everyone in the community.
NEW IN 2025
One of the big additions is the new spray pad in Central Park, near the Annerino Community Center. The spray pad will feature water sprays, a large fabric shade, benches and picnic tables. The spray pad will be open to the public for use.
“It will be a great area,” said Kim Smith, director of marketing and customer care for the Bolingbrook Park District. “Families can come and use it in the summer, and it’s a free attraction for the community.”
As part of the park district’s ongoing maintenance and care, it will be replacing older playgrounds at
Gateway Wetlands on Feathersound Drive and the playground at Knights of Columbus Park on Northridge Avenue. Smith said the goal is to have new playgrounds ready for use in Summer of 2025.
In 2024 the Bolingbrook Park District acquired its newest park in the newly constructed neighborhood Sawgrass by Pulte Homes. The Jerry Hix Park on Golden Star Drive is named for longtime park commissioner Jerry Hix, with more than 40 years of service to the park district. The new park is 4.84 acres and includes a playground, basketball courts, a covered pavilion shelter and picnic tables.
The Bolingbrook Park District is proud to offer opportunities for adults to hone their gymnastics skills at the Annerino Community Center. Smith said the park district saw the growing trend of providing gymnastics to adults, those 18 and older. In the classes, adults can return to a sport
they loved in their younger years or try something completely new. It’s an opportunity to work on skills, challenge oneself and have fun. She said the program is quite popular.
Staying in-tune with the community is important to the leadership at the Bolingbrook Park District. In 2025 stay tuned as it seeks feedback with a community-wide survey as well as smaller focus groups.
“This will help us develop our plans and move forward,” Smith said. “It allows us to adapt as the community changes.”

“We really get to see what the community wants and people can be confident we do value feedback from the community because it helps us grow for the future,” Smith said.
SHOP, DINE, GOLF BOLINGBROOK
Bolingbrook is buzzing with growth as retail redevelopment takes center stage, exemplified by the ongoing transformation at Interstate 55 and Route 53. This key project underscores the village’s commitment to fostering a thriving business environment and sets the stage for an exciting future.
Anticipation is building for the announcement of a new anchor tenant for the revitalized shopping center, said Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta. Physical upgrades and enhancements are already reshaping the area, further reinforcing Bolingbrook’s reputation as a dynamic and ever-evolving community.
“Bolingbrook continues expanding and growing,” Alexander-Basta said.
The village’s innovative spirit captured national attention more than a year ago with the grand opening of McDonald’s latest restaurant concept, CosMc’s. This cutting-edge drive-up eatery, featuring a bold beverage menu and select food items, quickly became a magnet for curious visitors and long lines of cars eager to experience the buzz-worthy new dining option.
The Promenade remains at the heart of Bolingbrook’s retail and dining scene, undergoing a transformative “Promenade 2.0” refresh in 2024. Enhancements included fresh paint, upgraded exteriors, and new concrete sidewalks, breathing new life into the 17-year-old shopping destination.
Looking ahead, The Promenade is set to welcome Bullvino, a premier Brazilian Churrascaria Steakhouse led by expert chefs from Minnesota. Opening later this year, Bullvino will bring an elevated dining experience to Illinois for the first time.
Families are also finding more reasons to visit The Promenade with recent additions like Kids Empire, boasting over 10,000 square feet of indoor climbing structures and slides, and Funflatables Fun Center, which relocated to a larger space in 2024.
“They are creating a more experience-focused destination with a welcoming family environment,” Alexander-Basta said.
As Bolingbrook gears up to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2025, the community can look forward to a year filled with exciting events and milestones. Among the highlights is the highly anticipated return of the LIV Golf Tournament, which will once again draw global attention to the Bolingbrook Golf Club August 8-10.
Formed in 2022 by LIV Golf Investments, the league boasts 13 teams and 14 tournaments worldwide. The 2024 LIV Golf League Individual Championship at Bolingbrook Golf Club shattered attendance records and solidified Bolingbrook’s place on the international golf stage.
“We are excited to welcome the eyes of the golf world and LIV Golf Tour back to Bolingbrook Golf Club and the Village of Bolingbrook in the upcoming 2025 season,” Alexander-Basta said. “The 2024 LIV Golf Chicago event was a tremendous success, and we look forward to building on that momentum to bring another world-class event to our community.”

or too long it’s been one of Bolingbrook’s best-kept secrets, but Angie Trobaugh, facility supervisor at Hidden Oaks Nature Center, plans to put an end to that.
Trobaugh is excited to welcome guests to the renovated Hidden Oaks Nature Center located off Boughton and Trout Farm Road. The renovations will enhance what visitors have loved about the location, including the return of resident turtles in a new, larger exhibit, as well as new features such as birdwatching off the center’s back deck and improved access to the outdoor play area.
“It will still have that homey feeling when you walk in, with a warm ambiance. We made sure we didn’t lose that,” Trobaugh said. “It has such character. We want to update it and breathe new life into it.”
The opportunity to work on the facility is a highlight for Trobaugh, who is drawing on her years of experience in forest preserve education facilities and bringing the best ideas to the Bolingbrook Center.
In 2022 the Bolingbrook Park District sold the property to the Will County Forest Preserve. Previously the park district used

the facility for programming and its nature-based preschool. Part of the renovation was opening the former classrooms to create room for exhibits. The center is slated to open following renovations in Spring 2025.
“It was important to make the most of the space we had,” Trobaugh said, adding it will be an opportunity to learn through fun, engaging, and interesting exhibits. Recognizing the great diversity in the community, Trobaugh wanted exhibits that go beyond words, inviting visitors to touch, see and hear through interactive features.
Trobaugh said she has been impressed with the incredible residents and business leaders in Bolingbrook and is excited to partner with groups, including the local art guild and art counsel, to host art exhibits at the Center.
While the renovations add plenty of new features and exhibits, visitors will recognize favorites, including the model of an oak tree at the entrance, which is getting a fresh coat of paint, Trobough added.

collectively known as the Hidden Oaks Preserve. Adjacent to the Hidden Lakes Trout Farm, the forest preserve constructed a new building, creating the concession facility named, The Tackle Box, where visitors can purchase bait, fishing licenses, as well as packaged food and beverages. The new concession, open April through October, will serve as a great stop for those fishing as well as those running, biking, and hiking in the area and trails.
Hidden Lakes Trout Farm is open 6 a.m. to sunset April to October and 8 a.m. to sunset November to March. The road leading down to Hidden Lakes Trout Farm, as well as the parking lot, closes each year on Nov. 1 (or after the first snowfall if it occurs sooner) and reopens on April 6.Following the renovations the Hidden Oaks Nature Center will be open 6 a.m. to sunset April to October and 8 a.m. to sunset November to March.

FIVE NEW ADDITIONS TO DISCOVER AT FOUNTAINDALE
Fountaindale Public Library serves the Bolingbrook community by providing a wealth of materials, vital resources, diverse programs and welcoming spaces for all ages. Every year, they look for new ways to enhance the patron experience, and this past year was no exception. Here are five new additions to check out next time you visit your library.
1. HOLDS PICKUP LOCKERS
Thanks to the generous American Rescue Plan Act grant from Will County and a partnership with the Bolingbrook Park District, Fountaindale Library installed two new Holds Pickup Lockers, one outside of their main entrance and one inside the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex (BRAC). The Holds Pickup Lockers are contactless and can be accessed outside of library hours so you can pick up your holds when and where it best fits your schedule!
2. A NEW MEETING ROOM
Meeting space is always in high demand, so the library relocated their Local History collection to construct Meeting Room D. This space accommodates up to 12 people and features a large conference table with built-in charging ports and a large screen to meet all of your audio/visual needs. Library cardholders ages 18 years and older may request to use meeting rooms free of charge.
3. THE RENOVATED QUIET READING ROOM
The Quiet Reading Room is one of the most beloved spaces in the library due to its quaint location nestled on the third floor and its abundance of natural light. Recently, it was renovated to include several types of new seating, all with built-in charging ports, to fit your reading and studying needs. The Quiet Reading Room is open during library hours and does not require a reservation.
4. FIERO CODE
If you've ever wanted to learn how to code, create your own video game or build a website, now you can with Fountaindale's newest eResource, Fiero Code. With Fiero Code, library cardholders ages 8 and older can learn how to code in over 13 different coding languages, including JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS and more. You can access Fiero Code from home by visiting fountaindale.org/fiero.
5. READING DRAGONS & FRIENDS
Kids in grades K–5 can take flight by earning unique trading cards for every 30 minutes they read. The more they read, the more cards they earn. Kids can also earn cards by attending special events and completing reading challenges throughout the year

AdventHealth Bolingbrook. Rose leads operations and growth plans for the hospital and oversees the implementation of critical service-line strategies.
The hospital is proud to have earned an “A” in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety
Grade in 2024, recognizing it as one of the nation’s safest hospitals. This marked the fifth consecutive grading period of earning an “A” for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook.
The hospital’s Women & Children’s Services Team was recognized by the Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative. The team was awarded for two impactful initiatives showcasing dedication to exceptional maternal and pediatric care. Additionally, the hospital was recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois as a Blue Distinction Center for delivering safe, high-quality, and cost-effective maternity care.
In 2024, the hospital celebrated the reopening of the Cardiac Care and Interventional Radiology Lab. The facility underwent state-of-the-art upgrades, including the Azurion imageguided therapy system that will enable providers to deliver advanced, precise care to patients.
There have been several upgrades to the hospital facility in the past year, including updates to the computed tomography machine, which will enhance the ability to serve cardiac patients.
The Bolingbrook hospital’s bariatric center was first accredited as a Comprehensive Center in 2014. The hospital team is proud to announce the center was re-accredited and recognized for excellence in bariatric care. The hospital’s team of bariatric surgeons and staff are dedicated to helping individuals achieve and sustain their healthiest weight. The program offers a range of bariatric surgery and weightloss procedures.
The leadership at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook strives to provide patients with the latest care options. The medical team at the hospital is revolutionizing prostate treatment with Aquablation Therapy, which offers minimally invasive therapy for enlarged prostate treatment.
The hospital and staff continue to grow in community outreach, collaborating on programs with the Bolingbrook Park District to provide classes and seminars. This collaboration includes family-fun events as well, such as the partnership with the Bolingbrook Park District for its family movie night event.
The health and well-being of the hospital staff is a high priority. UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is proud to be recognized as one of America’s Best Employers in the state according to Forbes. This honor highlights the hospital for creating a positive workplace and fostering a culture of excellence.
HUGE CULINARY SELECTION WHEN DINING IN BOLINGBROOK
From upscale to downhome, casual burgers and tacos to gourmet spreads and handcrafted sushi there is no shortage of dining choices in Bolingbrook.
And for those who need a little help remembering some of the best stops in town, Village Trustee Michael Carpanzano will happily share a recommendation or two, or more. Carpanzano and his wife are moderators of the Facebook page, Eat in Bolingbrook. The page started in 2020 as a way to help support the local businesses and has grown exponentially.
For Carpanzano, the page is a simple way for local, family-owned restaurants to toot their horn and share their specials. Followers enjoy checking out places and sharing their own experiences. A positive, personal review is one of the best ways to support a business and Carpanzano said there’s a direct connection between a great review and the following day’s business at a local restaurant.
“That’s the ultimate win,” he said.
The page is a great way to see just how the community’s food offerings can vary, from sports pubs to fine dining, fresh sandwiches to tacos and tortas, don’t forget Home Run Inn and Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill. Scooters Coffee on Boughton Road offers tasty breakfast treats, specialty coffees, smoothies, teas, and so much more.
Another new eatery is Los Comales on Weber Road, that includes traditional taqueria options, along with other popular Mexican seafood dishes.
Diners still succumb to cravings for Asian Fusion food at Riceby, and the new addition Fry the Coop with its Hot Chicken is heating things up in town as well.
And there are those gems that when you know, you know. Enjoy watching pilots take off and land while diving into a stack of
pancakes at Charlie’s Restaurant. Picking up a few groceries, check out the hot dishes at Fiesta Market for a quick lunch or the hot dishes at JoFen Oriental Market.
“Our community is incredibly diverse,” Carpanzano said.
Diversity will continue with the new additions in 2025 including ARWA, a Yemeni coffee shop opening on Boughton Road and the anticipated Bullvino’s Brazilian Steakhouse in the Promenade.
