Riverside Healthcare tips to prevent the flu
Getting the flu shot is the number one way to stay healthy and keep the flu away. But, in addition to the vaccine, there are several other steps you can take to keep you and your family safe this flu season. The following tips are provided as part of Riverside Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to the health of the communities served.
1. Wash your hands often. This is one of the most
important things you can do to keep from getting sick and prevent spreading germs. 2. When washing your hands, use soap and warm
water and scrub all surfaces for 15 seconds before rinsing. 3. If soap and warm water are not available, use
alcohol-based hand gel to disinfect your hands. Rub the gel into your hands until they are dry. 4. Cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw it away immediately. 5. Stay home if you are sick to prevent coworkers
from catching your illness. Keep your distance from others who may be coughing or sneezing. 6. Get plenty of sleep, exercise regularly, eat
nutritious foods, manage stress and drink plenty of fluids.
