Nowhere else can you find such a huge array of lifestyle-changing products and services under one roof. During the day, you’ll also enjoy free seminars, free health screenings, free musical entertainment, and have a chance to win a nice door prize. Over the past few years, thousands of seniors in the region have taken advantage of all that Active Senior Expo has to offer. This upcoming event will feature the very latest in offerings in health care, financial services, retirement communities, assisted living facilities, home care, legal services, insurance, publications, travel, government programs and more. In 2013, there will be six events: Aurora, Oak Forest, Western Suburbs –TBD, Niles, Northshore -- TBD and St. Charles. “I really enjoy the St. Charles event,” Cycon said. “The seniors in the area are very friendly, and the Kane County Chronicle and the Kane County Fairgrounds are great to work with.” Cycon emphasizes that he is constantly striving to enhance the value of the events for attendees. “We’re always open to new ideas and suggestions.” He can be reached at (630) 6206347. In today’s world of societal complexity and economic uncertainty, seniors need quick and easy access to information. That’s where Active Senior Expo comes in. Since 2002, Active Senior Expo has provided instant resources for nearly 200,000 seniors in the Chicago area. The products and services at the event have solved many problems, enriched standards of living and enhanced many lifestyles. Since its beginning, Active Senior Expo has delivered on its mission statement: “Dedicated to inform, educate and entertain senior citizens”. In one day, under one roof, the event offers more products and services than a senior could possibly explore on his or her own. Special attractions such as free seminars, free health screenings, free musical entertainment and free door prizes serve to elevate the show-going experience. “The feedback we get is 100% positive,” states Show Manager Bob Cycon. “It’s been a very gratifying eleven years, and we look forward to serving the senior community for many years to come.” How did Active Senior Expo arrive on the scene? While Cycon was serving as a marketing consultant for Liberty Suburban Chicago Newspapers, the manager of the then-existing Liberty Senior Fair fell ill and Cycon was asked to take over. Armed with a heavy background in marketing, promotion and show management, Cycon doubled the size of the show in a year. At the time, there were only three senior shows in the Chicago area, all held in the same venue, the Drury Lane Theater at Oakbrook Terrace. Cycon thought, “Why not take this concept to other areas in Chicago, making it easier for seniors to attend?” He formed Silver Star Expositions and devoted his

• Seniors control 70% of the disposable income in the United States … $1.6 trillion in spending power with more than $1 trillion spent on goods and services • Seniors have a cumulative household value of $19 trillion • The percentage of seniors with incomes below the poverty line is about 10%
