Indian Valley Theatre auditions for ‘The Tin Woman’ set for Aug. 5 and 6

SANDWICH – The Indian Valley Theatre will host auditions for its upcoming performances of “The Tin Woman.”
Auditions will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 and 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6 in the community room of the Sandwich Opera House, 140 E. Railroad St., Sandwich, according to a news release.
Those auditioning should be age 18 and older.
“The Tin Woman,” written by Sean Grennan, tells the story of Joy, who begins a downward spiral after a heart transplant. Meanwhile, Hank and Alice mourn the loss of their son Jack, whose heart was given to Joy. She is urged by a friend to track down Jack’s family for closure.
The IVT production will be directed by Jen Ketchum.
Auditions consist of cold readings from the script. Attendees are encouraged to inform the director of rehearsal conflicts. Ketchum will cast two men and three women. No experience is required.
Performances of “The Tin Woman are scheduled at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21, and 2 p.m. Oct. 22.
Indian Valley Theatre is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the appreciation and development of the performing arts in the Fox Valley area.

YEP’s goal is to improve the quality of life for local youth. The committee analyzes grant applications, conducts site visits, and evaluates the potential impact on DeKalb County youth. YEP also offers volunteer events, monthly meetings and learning experiences to enhance analytical and social skills.
The committee awarded $14,725 in grants to 13 organizations for youth-serving projects and programs last year.

State Sen. Chesney to host office hours Aug. 9 in Genoa
GENOA – State Sen. Andrew Chesney, R-Freeport, will host traveling office hours to provide 45th District constituents services. Office representatives will visit Genoa from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 at Genoa City Hall, 333 E. First St., according to a news release. The office hours are intended for 45th District residents.
Constituents can receive services for state agency issues. Residents will be assisted by Chesney’s staff.
Services include:
• Firearms identification and concealed carry delays or issues
• The Office of Aging, Attorney General’s office, Department of Human Services and state police issues
• Transferring out-of-state professional licenses
• Secretary of State motor vehicle issues
• Veterans’ issues
• State board of education or board of higher education issues
