Ray Romano OF NO GOOD DEED ON NETFLIX Q: I’ve heard that Ray Romano is going to do another series. Is that true?

A: It is. With “Everybody Loves Raymond” still available regularly on TV Land and IFC, the actor-comedian is working on his newest show, a Netflix sitcom titled “No Good Deed.” He’ll be part of an ensemble cast in the saga of several families who all want to buy the same house, with plenty of complications arising from their vying for the property.

Romano isn’t the only well-known series veteran in the show, which comes from writer-producer Liz Feldman, who had an earlier Netflix hit with “Dead to Me.” That program’s Linda Cardellini reunites with her for the new program, which also will feature Lisa Kudrow (“Friends,” “The Comeback,” “Web Therapy”) and Denis Leary (“Rescue Me,” “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,” “Animal Kingdom,” “The Moodys”).

Of course, Romano also has had other turns at the series game. He followed the nine-season CBS run of “Everybody Loves Raymond” with TNT’s critically acclaimed comedy-drama “Men of a Certain Age,” of which he also was a creator and executive producer. Then, he was a star of the HBO recording-industry drama “Vinyl” (which had Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese among its creators and executive producers), the Epix (now MGM+) series version of “Get Shorty” and the then-HBO Max’s seriocomic “Made for Love.”

The premiere date of “No Good Deed” had yet to be determined as of this writing, but with the powerhouse names that its cast encompasses, the scheduling of its debut surely will be made known as that time gets closer.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup series is set to get underway this weekend as the 66th annual Daytona 500 kicks off at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, Sunday, Feb.18, with the Great American Race broadcast live on Fox. With a new season comes new opportunities to win, and this year fans can expect exactly that with established names such as Chase Elliot, Danny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney all expected to remain a force on the track. However, when it comes to winning it all, 31-year-old Kyle Larson is in a field of his own as he looks to continue adding more championships to his resume.

The Elk Grove, California, native is no stranger to success. Larson put in a dominant performance in 2021, earning himself a 10-win season before going on to win the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Championship.

And it seems like Larson just keeps improving on the track each year.

During the 2023 season, Larson led a Cup series-best 1,127 laps, earning his second Championship 4 appearance in three years while finishing second in overall standings.

‘CSI: Vegas’ returns to prove one of their own’s innocence

When a famed forensics lab drops everything to prove your innocence, your days being held in custody for murder are numbered, right?

That’s what lead investigator Josh Folsom (Matt Lauria, “Kingdom”) is hoping for in the season premiere of “CSI” Vegas,” airing Sunday, Feb. 18, on CBS. After Folsom’s mother’s killer was found dead in last season’s finale episode, the investigator was dragged away, suspected to be responsible for the death.

The whodunnit cliffhanger has kept audiences on their toes for months in the extended break between seasons of “CSI: Vegas,” affected by the strikes last year. It doesn’t seem like the killer’s identity and Folsom’s fate will be a mystery for very long, per the premiere episode description from CBS, as the new season opens with “the CSI team [combing] through every crumb of forensic evidence to determine his innocence or guilt.”

Paula Newsome (“Barry”) leads the team as Maxine Roby, head of the crime lab, supported by Mandeep Dhillon (“Avoidance”) as investigator Allie Rajan, Ariana Guerra (“Promised Land”) as Det. Serena Chavez, Jay Lee (“Looking for Alaska”) as investigator Chris Park, Lex Medlin (“Drop Dead Diva”) as investigator Beau Finado, Sara Amini (“Lucky Hank”) as chief medical examiner Sonya Nikolayevich, Sarah Gilman (“Those Who Can’t”) as rookie investigator Penny Gill, and reprising her role as investigator Catherine Willows from the hit establishing series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” Marg Helgenberger (“All Rise”), the only original series cast member to appear in more than one season of the “Vegas” reboot.

Ahead of her first appearance last season, Helgenberger spoke with Entertainment Weekly about her return to the franchise, praising the new cast.

“They couldn’t have been more welcoming, But it was interesting because I had played

Catherine Willows for so many years, It’s like a part of me,” said Helgenberger. “In terms of establishing a camaraderie or an instant chemistry, it was pretty natural, I have to say, and I think it’s because I played this character for so long.”

Meanwhile, Folsom’s fate is in the hands of the CSI team, but it’s not just work for some members of the lab. Det. Chavez herself may just be a little too close to Folsom to help build a case for his innocence — the pair have established a romantic relationship when they are off the clock. Complicating matters more, Allie, in addition to being a senior investigator in the lab, is Folsom’s ex. Bolstering a former boyfriend’s innocence is all in a day’s work.

It’s no secret that salacious, outlandish cases are part of the DNA of any “CSI” series, and “Vegas” is no exception. The procedural has a habit of using comedy to create some levity over gory crime scenes and graphic medical examinations. Suspicious deaths at a clown hotel, a secret sex dungeon and a masquerade party are just a few examples of the cases that have ended up in the lab over the course of the show’s first two seasons, not to mention more than one elaborate frame up. Nothing less could be expected from the crimes of Las Vegas.

“CSI: Vegas” moves from Thursday nights to a coveted Sunday prime time spot on CBS, alongside action drama “The Equalizer,” returning for its fourth season, and the brand new series “Tracker,” starring Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”). The second season of “CSI: Vegas” upped the episode order from its first season’s 10 episodes to a whopping 21 episodes, however this season is back to a tight 10. “Mike Epps: Ready to Sell Out” (Feb. 19)

Comedian Mike Epps keeps it real as he riffs on poor personal hygiene, failing at infidelity and waging war on work husbands in his latest stand-up special.

This imaginative and vibrant animated series follows the adventures of the Pupstruction team, a hard-working construction crew that includes Phinny, the crew leader, an innovative young corgi; Luna, a comically spontaneous sheepdog; Roxy, a can-do rottweiler; and Tank, a lovable, snack-obsessed mastiff.

Although Phinny might be the smallest pup on the crew, he proves that you don’t need big paws to have big ideas.

Q: I loved Dr. Cuddy on “House,” but I haven’t seen that actor anywhere in a while. What is she up to?

A: Lisa Edelstein has in fact been incredibly busy since leaving her long-running role in “House” in 2011 (she reportedly left the show a year before its end because of a contract dispute).

For example, she basically walked straight off the “House” set and onto “The Good Wife,” doing a three-episode arc in the popular legal drama in 2011.

After that, she did a few other brief runs on shows such as “Castle” and “House of Lies,” before taking on a pair of full-time gigs.

First, she took a voice acting gig on the Nickelodeon kids’ series “The Legend of Korra,” playing a water-bending master (something that would take too long to explain) named Kya. After that, she took on her biggest post-”House” role, starring in the Bravo hit “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.” It was the cable channel’s first original scripted series and ran for four hit seasons, from 2014 to 2018.

Then came “The Kominsky Method,” the Netflix series about an acting coach, played by Michael Douglas (“Wall Street,” 1987). Edelstein starred in all three seasons as Phoebe, a drug-addicted daughter trying to reconcile with her father.

All of her roles, with the exception of “The Legend of Korra,” it seems, have been in dramedies. Indeed, Edelstein copped to that in an interview with Flood magazine.

“I love dramedies mostly because they don’t force me to choose between drama and comedy. I get to do it all and sometimes sing!” Though, she admitted the singing thing doesn’t come up much.
