The Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living is a non-profit, community-based, non-residential service and advocacy organization that assists persons with disabilities in opening doors to their independence.

IVCIL’S FIVE CORE SERVICES ARE:

Information and Referral — We offer guidance in locating services and products.

Advocacy — We work together with our partners to eliminate barriers, allowing people with disabilities to fully participate in society.

Peer Counseling — The peer relationship helps individuals work through matters, specific to their particular disability.

Independent Living Skills

Training — IVCIL offers trainings and fun events to equip people with disabilities with the skills and information to manage their lives and live more independently.

Transition Services —We facilitate the transition of individuals with significant disabilities from nursing homes to return home, with supports and services provided by IVCIL and various managed care organizations.

OTHER IVCIL PROGRAMS:

Personal Assistant Program

— IVCIL trains and helps people locate assistants to help individuals in need of personal care, shopping, and household chores. This program is run in conjunction with the Department of Rehabilitation Services.

Youth Services Program — This program is for children with disabilities up to age 22 that are still attending high school and their families.

ITAC Amplified Phone Program

— Illinois residents who are certified with hearing loss by a professional are eligible for this program. Apply for a free amplified telephone today.

Equipment Loan Program — IVCIL has a variety of medical equipment and assistance devices available for use.
