VILLAGE OF FOX RIVER GROVE
Welcome to Fox River Grove. On behalf of the Village Board, I would like to invite everyone to enjoy our village.
Fox River Grove is in a strong financial position, and since 2018 remains a debt free community. The Village is committed to continuing to operate as an efficient and effective agent of our residents and businesses.
The Village partners with the Chamber and community organizations to create wonderful business friendly events, such as Norge Ski Jump, Fox Chase 5K, the Village’s annual fireworks celebration, and more.
Our local schools are outstanding. The elementary and middle schools of Fox River Grove District 3 and Barrington District 220 regularly score well in areas of student achievement. Both Cary-Grove and Barrington High School also rank among the top 10% of high schools in the nation.
Construction has begun on a project that will bring 100 apartments to Fox River Grove on Algonquin Rd. south of Northwest Hwy.
In 2021, the Village purchased parcels on Block B, which includes the properties along Northwest Highway between Illinois Street and Lincoln Avenue, and identified a developer and plan for this block. The project recently stalled due to current economic conditions. While the Village retains the option to resume these plans with the identified developer at a future date, the Village continues to seek an alternative developer that is interested in pursuing a project now. The Village is currently marketing the property to the commercial/mixed-use development community through a real estate broker. The Village has been actively working on this plan since 2015, with the adoption of the TIF District.
New residential development is also coming to the eastern edge of the Village with the addition of a 110-unit attached single-family rental neighborhood that will ultimately help support local business. Redwood’s apartment neighborhood along Route 22 is scheduled to begin construction in spring / summer 2023. While economic development is crucial to the Village’s long-term future, the Village has also invested $950,000 in its parks in recent years under the leadership of the Village Board and our Parks Commission. This investment ensures our assets along the river can continue to be enjoyed by our residents and visitors. New projects this year include: a bike path along the Fox River at Picnic Grove Park, the addition of bike paths at Lions Park, Foxmoor Park, and Hunters Farm Park, and additional shoreline restoration at Picnic Grove Park.
