Whatever your informational or recreational needs may be, the Wauconda Area Public Library is a great place to get started. This full-service public library district portions of the villages of Wauconda, Island Lake, Lake Barrington, Port Barrington, Lakemoor and Volo -- more than 28,000 residents. We offer a collection of more than 500,000 books, ebooks/digital downloads, magazines, DVDs and kits, as well as a wide variety of state-of-the-art electronic resources and equipment, including free Wi-Fi access to the Internet throughout the library.

Thousands of questions are answered each month by the library’s well-trained staff. Hundreds of library events are scheduled throughout the year for all ages. These free programs are designed to entertain and inform and to introduce the public to the library’s services.

The College of Lake County (CLC) is a two-year public community college in Lake County offering associate in arts, science, engineering science, fine arts and applied science degrees. The college also offers certificate programs with more than 100 options in fields from accounting to Web design. In addition, CLC offers continuing education courses for personal enrichment or professional needs and adult education courses in the areas of basic skills, English as a Second Language and General Education Development. CLC’s Business and Industry Services department provides customized programs and training to meet the needs of business.

Celebrating 40 years of service to the community, McHenry County College is the county’s center for higher education and lifelong learning. MCC offers six associate degree programs, which provide the first two years of a baccalaureate college curriculum; 17 Applied Science Associate Degrees designed for career training; and 44 certificate programs. Agreements with other area community colleges allow students to take vocational programs that are not offered at MCC.
