Western Conference Clash: Oilers host Stars in final regular season matchup

The race to the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs continues with a key Western Conference matchup. The Edmonton Oilers get set to host the Dallas Stars Wednesday, March 26, at Rogers Place in Edmonton, airing live on TNT, truTV and Max.

Serving as a potential playoff preview, the Stars and Oilers have been among the NHL’s elite this season, with both teams set to face off in their final matchup of the regular season.

From the jump, Dallas has been a powerhouse this season with Matt Duchene leading the team with 62 points (25 goals, 37 assists), while also getting solid contributions from forward Jason Robertson (25 goals, 35 assists) and center Wyatt Johnson (21 goals, 34 assists).

The biggest story out of Dallas has been the performance of goaltender Jake Oettinger, who has been on fire this season, boasting a .911 save percentage in 44 games. His consistent play has been a crucial piece to the Stars’ success, further proving why the Stars secured him for the long run by signing Oettinger to an eight-year, $66-million contract extension in October.

Meanwhile, Edmonton continues its strong

play in the Pacific Division behind the dynamic duo of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.

Once again, McDavid leads the team in assists with 53, while Draisaitl leads the team in goals with 44 at press time.

Against an Oilers squad that thrives on its offensive prowess, Oettinger will need to be sharp between the pipes to steal a win on the road for the Stars as they look to continue their dominant season. Meanwhile, the Oilers will look to continue improving their position in a competitive Pacific Division.

In what promises to be a thrilling late season showdown, the Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars in their final regular season matchup Wednesday, March 26, at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with all the action broadcast live on TNT, truTV and Max.

Back to bourgeoisie: ‘Marie Antoinette’ returns for a tumultuous second season

Political history has intrigued the entertainment world since the dawn of moving pictures. For instance, while the first-ever reported film was a two-second clip of early motion picture camera inventor Louis Le Prince’s English garden in 1888, it wasn’t long before royalty entered the picture in 1895’s “The Execution of Mary Stuart,” an American production depicting the death of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Today, one need not look far to find the descendants of such early materials. On the television front, one such series that captured the hearts and minds of TV audiences in recent years is the Canal+ co-production “Marie Antoinette,” which chronicles the rise and fall of the opulent, titular French queen and her well-meaning but “rather dull” husband, King Louis XVI. Back for a second season of fictionalized history on PBS, the story’s newest installment marks the beginning of the end for the pair and their reign ahead of the French Revolution. Season 2 of “Marie Antoinette” premieres Sunday, March 23, on PBS. Check your local listings for timing.

The series, created by Deborah Davis (“The Favourite,” 2018), stars Russian-born German actress Emilia Schüle (“Dreamfactory,” 2019) in the leading role, alongside U.K.-based actor Louis Cunningham (“Bridgerton”) as Louis XVI. Season 2 of “Marie Antoinette” also stars Freya Mavor (“The Emperor of Paris,” 2018), Jasmine Blackborow (“Shadow and Bone”), Jack Archer (“Call the Midwife”), Crystal Shepherd-Cross (“Chronicles of the Sun”), Oscar Lesage (“The Substance,” 2024), Roxane Duran (“Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris,” 2022), Caroline Piette (“120 BPM,” 2017), Yoli

Fuller (“The Widow”), Liah O’Prey (“Mary Queen of Scots,” 2018), Martijn Lakemeier (“Hollands hoop”), Guy Henry (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” 2016) and James Northcote (“Anna Karenina,” 2012).

Not unlike Sofia Coppola’s (“Lost in Translation,” 2003) 2006 film of the same name starring Kirsten Dunst (“Spider-Man,” 2002), “Marie Antoinette” begins the ruler’s story by tracing her trip from “Austria to marry the Dauphin of France,” the first season’s official synopsis reads. “With pressure to continue the Bourbon line and secure the Franco-Austrian alliance, she must follow the complex rules of the French court while attempting to charm her reluctant king-to-be, Louis XVI.”

Now headed into its second season, the series picks up after the palace’s luxurious New Year’s celebrations, which came to a grim end when Louis announced his country’s support for the United States of America in its War of Independence against the English, thus positioning the French at odds with Britain.

With that in mind, a recent PBS news release regarding Season 2 notes that, “Antoinette and Louis [are] facing unprecedented challenges at the height of their power.

“As financial crises loom across the nation and political rivalries intensify,” the release continues, “the royal couple must navigate an increasingly hostile court and a changing France. From Versailles to the [Palais-Royal], the seeds of a revolution began to take root, threatening the very foundations of France’s long-standing monarchy.”

As for the series finally making its way to North American audiences in March

2023 following its premiere several months earlier in France (and later, the U.K.), fans of the series may be pleased to learn that the second season arrives worldwide on the same date.

“We are so excited that PBS’s audience will get to see the anticipated second season of ‘Marie Antoinette’,” stated Maria Bruno Ruiz, vice president of program content strategy and scheduling at PBS. “The tension in Season 2 builds with each episode as we experience the beginning of the end for King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette.”

celebrity q&a

Shantel VanSanten

Q: Why was the decision made to move Shantel VanSanten from the main “FBI” series to “FBI: Most Wanted”?

A: When Shantel VanSanten was brought into the parent “FBI” series on CBS and Paramount+ toward the end of Season 4 in 2022, the understanding was that it was temporary at the time, since Missy Peregrym was off the show for a number of episodes, on maternity leave for the birth of her second child.

The “FBI” writer-producers came up with a rich background for VanSanten’s character, Special Agent Nina Chase, by giving her a history with fellow FBI operative Stuart Scola (John Boyd). That history developed even more when the two of them renewed their relationship and became expectant parents, as they took different views of the situation.

When Peregrym returned to “FBI” during Season 5, it seemed that would be the end of VanSanten’s regular presence in the franchise. However, “FBI: Most Wanted” ended up needing to add someone when co-star Alexa Davalos left that show, with it being explained that her alter ego Kristin Gaines had transferred to the Denver bureau to be closer to her children. Executive producer Dick Wolf and his creative colleagues made that call to VanSanten, and the rest is now TV history.

Nina’s connection to Scola has led to fairly regular crossovers between “FBI” and “FBI: Most Wanted,” driven largely by the characters’ co-parenting. However, it now remains to be seen if VanSanten will be moved back to the original “FBI” on a steadier basis, since CBS has decided to end “FBI: Most Wanted” after the current TV season (as well as “FBI: International”). One would think there will continue to be mention of Nina, at least, on “FBI” in light of the personal situation that she and Scola share.

Total Knockout: The Paul brothers take fans behind the scenes in new reality series

Boasting more than 150 million followers across social media platforms, multiple booming business ventures and countless trending headlines, internet-famous brothers Logan and Jake Paul are ready to tackle their next adventure with the new reality series “Paul American,” premiering Thursday, March 27, on Max. Having first struck virality on Vine before transitioning to YouTube, 29-yearold Logan Paul has remained one of the boldest digital creators since his debut in the mid-2010s. Since then, the older Paul brother has expanded into entrepreneurship as the co-founder of Prime — a beverage brand he built alongside YouTuber KSI — and later as the co-creator of the “Lunchly” grab-and-go meal kit, brought to fruition with the help of KSI and YouTube giant MrBeast.

Jake, 28, found online fame right alongside his brother, gaining popularity for his “brash, unapologetic persona” (per Warner Bros. Discovery). Eventually earning himself the nickname “The Problem Child,” the younger Paul eventually left the digital realm to explore his love for professional boxing. Since then, Jake has earned victories against the likes of Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, even going face-to-face with Mike Tyson in a widely watched live Netflix event.

“For two decades, the Pauls’ lives have been incredibly public yet highly curated through an internet lens,” the network describes in a logline for the series. “Now, with unparalleled access to the Paul family and their inner circle, ‘Paul American’

peels back the curtain on the most raw, honest and intimate moments in the brothers’ over-the-top, high-octane lives.”

Together, the Paul brothers released a joint statement: “For the first time, our fans will get to see the real people who shape our lives: our mom, dad, Jutta, Nina and everyone else in our inner circle. As athletes, we’ve poured everything into proving ourselves in the ring and breaking barriers in sports, entertainment and beyond. But at the core of it all is family and the relationships that keep us grounded. This series dives into the moments that define us and the bonds that make us unstoppable. The good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s real and honest, showing the world a side of us they’ve never seen, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this story with our fans.”

Exit your YouTube browser and step into the real world of brothers Logan and Jake Paul when “Paul American” premieres Thursday, March 27, on Max.
