Lady Panthers win Winter GPA Challenge

The Putnam County girls basketball team won the Winter GPA Challenge with a 3.677.

This is the third highest team GPA since the inception of this award in 2016.

This is the best team GPA for Coach Jared Sale and the Lady Panthers, surpassing the 2019-20 Girls team. Girls have three of the top six overall GPAs.

PC winter athletes had a cumulative GPA of 3.229, which was .347 higher than those not in a sport during the same time period

Similarly, the attendance rate for winter athletes was 94.1%, which was 2.9% higher than those not in a sport.

Baseball

Putnam County 8, Eureka 6: Andrew Pyszka went 2-for-3 and scored three runs to help the Panthers to a nonconference victory in Granville on Tuesday, March 21.

Nicholas Currie doubled, drove in two runs and scored a run for PC (2-2).

Troy Petty was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

Bloomington 10, Putnam County 3: The Panthers gave up eight runs in the first inning in a nonconference loss in Granville on Monday, March 20.

Jackson McDonald was 2-for-3 with a RBI while also taking the loss on the mound for PC (1-2). Lucas Wiesbrock went 2-for-3 with a run.

Brimfield 5, Putnam County 3: The Panthers dropped a nonconference game to the Indians on the road March 22.

Cancellations: The Panthers games with Newman on Thursday, March 23, and Annawan-Wethersfield on Saturday, March 25, were canceled with possible make-up dates TBA.
