SaukValleyCommunityCollegehasenteredinto a dual-enrollmentagreementwithAugustanaCollege toenhanceandexpandopportunitiesforstudents.
Theagreementallowsstudentsenrollingat SVCC withtheintentionofcompletinganassociateofarts programtoapplytoAugustanaatthesametimeand have accesstoacademicresourcesonbothcampuses. Aftercompletingtheirassociatedegreeandmeetingtransferadmissionrequirements,studentsautomaticallyareadmittedtoAugustanaandwillhave juniorstanding.
AspartoftheAugustanaNextpartnership,SVCC studentsareeligibletotakeanytwoAugustana coursesatareducedrate.Thesedual-enrolledstudentsmayelecttoenrollinAugustanacoursesduring theacademic yearorinthesummerforeithermajor or generaleducationcourses.
“Whatagreatpartnershipwithapremiereliberal artscollege.SomeofSVCC’sbeststudentswillbe affordedtheopportunitytotransfertoandgraduate fromAugustanaCollegethankstotheAugustana Nextpartnership,”SVCC PresidentDaveHellmich said.

Birkey’sFarmStoreinProphetstownwas graciousenoughtosetup theplanttourforanymemberthat wantedtogo.
Ifyouhaveeverdrivenweston Interstate80throughIowa,youprobablynoticedthetoweringstackofblue graincartsandagiganticplanter standingonend.That’sthehomeof KinzeManufacturing,foundedin1965.
Thetourstartedwitha20-minute videoaboutthebeginningsofKinze Manufacturingandthentherewas a tour ofthesmallmuseum. Thetour groupviewed someofthetoolsthat founderJonKinzenbawusedwhenhe firststartedhisweldingshop,plusthe firsttractorandfirstgraincartheever built.Amaponthewallwithlittlecoloredlightsshowedalltheplacesinthe worldwhereKinzeequipmentissold, manufacturedandused.Themuseum showedKinzenbawisaverydriven andinnovativeman.
The nextstop wastogetsafety glassesandearbudsbeforeheadingto thefactory,whereatourguidewaited withalongtrainofcartstotakethem
ontothe factoryfloor.Jenn,thetour guide,wasextremelyknowledgeable oneveryaspectofthemanufacturing process–fromstampingoutsteelto paintingandassembly.Sheshowed fromstarttofinishhow a planteris

Afterthetour,Jennandthegroup’s drivertookthembacktothemuseum area,wheresheansweredmanyquestionsaboutavailablecareersand opportunitiesatKinze.Thegroup
