Car show and pancake breakfast draws hundreds to Lyndon

Richmond Park in Lyndon was the place to be Sunday, June 4, during the 32nd annual Lyndon Car Show. Luckily it was all shine and no rain as classic cars, pickup trucks, newer vehicles and hot rods were parked in the park while nostalgic music played on the loudspeakers.

PPD annual fishing derby is June 17

The Prophetstown Police Department’s 17th annual Dick Brown Fishing Derby will be on Saturday, June 17, at Prophetstown State Park starting at 8 a.m.

There will be three age groups: 0-6, 7-10, and 11-14, with a variety of great prizes for all participants.

This year, there’s even an opportunity to

wrestle a police officer for a doughnut! All anglers will need to register, and a parent or guardian’s signature is required. Forms are available at the police department or on the morning of the event.

Erie honors the fallen during Memorial Day parade

Erie’s long-running patriotic tradition to remember and honor those who died in the nation’s wars brought hundreds of people to the village May 29.

Morning activities started at Margaret Park in the Triangle with Revitalize Erie volunteers distributing free breakfast burritos, juice boxes and coffee, all thanks to generous community sponsors.

American Legion Post 582 held its 137th annual Memorial Day Parade and Service starting at 10 a.m. in the Triangle. Legion members with a giant American flag, first responders, the Parade of Veterans, Sheriff John Booker, schools, sports and community groups, farmers in tractors, Erie School District’s service dogs and local businesses all contributed to Erie’s tribute to the fallen, even as a train briefly interrupted the procession through town.

Albany Road for the annual Memorial Day Service at 11 a.m. Tim Possley, master of ceremonies, welcomed attendees and Gary Farral, Erie Post chaplain, provided the invocation. The Erie Legion members presented the U.S. Colors and Erie Scouts led the Pledge of Allegiance. The national anthem was performed by Wyatt and Grace Heyvaert, followed by remarks by Erie Mayor Marcia Smith.

The guest speaker was Pastor Rod Dye, special music was provided by Black Hawk Pipes and Drums and the Heyvaerts, and the Erie Post 582 rifle squad gave an honor salute for departed veterans followed by taps. Also contributing to the ceremony were Commander Frank Meier, Clark Mortensen, Jim Melton, Jane Keag, Jen Holdorf, McKenzie Winckler, Ruth Melton and Curt Huizenga.

Erie’s mission to honor and remember departed comrades and veterans continues to inspire a grateful community that cherishes the freedoms that the men and women in uniform fought and died for.

Born: September 24, 1935

Died: April 15, 2023

Sally Lee Beswick, 87, died peacefully April 15, 2023, in Lewisville, Texas, from complications of heart failure and COPD, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 24, 1935, in Madison, South Dakota, to Frank and Vivian Petersen. Sally graduated from Morrison Community High School in 1954 and went on to attend the University of Colorado where she majored in physical education. She married her high school sweet heart, James Harlan Beswick, both relocating to Boulder, Colorado, upon his release from his two year commitment to the U. S. Navy. They celebrated 67 years of marriage. They had three children, Frankie Marie Beswick Hood of Morrison, Colorado, James Harlan Beswick Jr. of Conroe, Texas, and Jamie Lee Norman of Flower Mound, Texas, all three born in Colorado.

Born: February 4, 1948 in Prophetstown, IL

Died: May 31, 2023 in Sterling, IL

VICKY (THORMAHLEN) DE NEVE, 75, of Prophetstown, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling, IL. A graveside service for family members will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on June 18, 2023, at the Advent Christian Church at 200 Elm Street Prophetstown, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown are in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established by the family.

While making their home in Colorado, Sally worked as a key punch operator for the National Bureau of Standards, cultivating many long time friends. During that time while building their dream home, her husband, Jim, unfortunately was called back to Morrison in 1966 to salvage the family farm upon the deteriorating health of his father. It broke her heart.

Nevertheless, for the next 12 years in Morrison, Sally worked part time in the administrative office of General Electric and was involved with the local Republican Election Commission. She was a long time bridge player and a flight champion in the Lincoln Highway Golf Tournament held for many years in the Morrison area. Partnering with another, Sally also managed the food and beverage operation for the Morrison VFW. They moved to Salida, Colorado, where she became the infamous “Mail Lady”, putting on an average of 135 miles a day, delivering mail in God’s Country. Two of her children, Jim Jr. and Jamie Lee made the high school commemorative wall until this day in track and field for best performance in their respective skill sets. Their little log cabin above town was her home for the next 13 years until they

Thormahlen in Prophetstown. She was in the Leon Wide Awakes 4-H Club. She always brought home a lot of blue ribbons and the showmanship trophy. While showing hogs at the fair, her dad, Chet, was always proud of her! She attended Centerville Grade School and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1966. Vicky was a cheerleader in grade school and high school. When she would do her front or back flips and land in the Chinese splits, the crowds would go, “oooo!” She then pursued a physical education major at Western Illinois University, 1966-1967.

Vicky and Larry De Neve were married December 23, 1967, while Larry was stationed at Ft. Leonardwood, MO, in Advanced Infantry Training. Vicky farmed for 17 years; helping with the livestock and also driving the tractor and disk, while Larry ran the planter. Vicky also ran the combine in the fall harvest.

Vicky always enjoyed canning, freezing and dehydrating a lot of vegetables and herbs from her garden along with apples, pears, cherries and her delicious peach marmalade.

moved to Littleton, Colorado, in 1988. Sally then worked as a tour guide at the US Mint in Denver and volunteered as tournament chair at the local golf course. Everyone was required to putt out.

In their eyes, Jim and Sally’s biggest accomplishment was to ensure all three children had college degrees. They retired in 2000 and traveled the country in their diesel pusher RV, always maintaining a home in Colorado. Sally was known for her sass and spunk, her infamous “chocolate cake” and could tell a good joke like no other. She always had her door open. She was loved by many who just wanted to hang out and chat. Her favorite song was Sinatra’s ‘New, York, New York’ … those little town shoes. Her organ was never far away. One of her favorite memories was when her father, Frank Petersen, would often say.. “now take your gloves off, sweetheart, and play it like you mean it”.

Sally and her husband, Jim, had an active retirement traveling in their Diesel Pusher as free spirits most of the year and summering with local friends at her party house in Littleton, Colorado. Sally, always the navigato, and her late husband, Jim, the driver and captain, traveled to RV parks, Walmart parking lots,

Vicky always loved flowers! She has several flower beds with a large variety along with her tulips, daffodils, azalea and irises of many colors. She bought Flowerland on Main Street in Prophetstown. Vicky was so happy to have her own business. The last 23 years of her life was spent as a massage therapist in her home in the country called Treelane Touch. She received great happiness in helping people with their aches and pains.

Vicky had a very creative mind in developing her own patterns and color combinations when she would make her quilts. She loved the challenge of a 1,000 piece puzzle! Vicky developed the logo verse, “Prophetstown –Practically Perfect” for Mayor Bud Thompson. She was also a Lions Club member for several years.

Vicky was extremely athletic. She loved to water ski, snow ski, golf and play tennis. She was also extremely artistic, creating a mural on the 15 foot high walls of the Prophetstown Park District swimming pool, elementary school and for various backgrounds needed for church programs.

rallies, Elks Lodges as well as numerous motor sport races. Their “Bus” allowed them to spend many months close to their children and grandchildren in Texas. Together, they made great friends, young and old along the way. Sally will always be remembered for how many people enjoyed the times with her at happy hour, holding court, gambling and being forced to accept her opinion on all worldly matters.

Sally was thankful to have a loving family who she lived with during her final years. She is preceded in death by her husband, James, her sister, Joan Hall and her parents, Frank and Vivian Petersen. Survivors include her three children, Frankie Hood, Jim Beswick Jr, Jamie Norman, son-in-law Harold Norman, her three grand children, Alexandra Bumpass (Casey), Addison Lee Norman, Austin James Norman and a host of nieces.

Sadly, her ashes will be laid to rest along with her husband’s at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Any donations received will go to the American Heart Association, a charity she long served.

Vicky loved to travel with Larry to Europe, Caribbean Islands, Egypt, Israel, Costa Rica and the beaches of Hawaii and Sanibel Island. Taking the grandsons whitewater rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon was certainly a favorite.

Vicky attended the Advent Christian Church for 40 years where she started her spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. Over the years, she served on the Board of Directors as deaconess, clerk, church secretary and choir member. The last few years, she had attended the Assembly in Sterling, where her son, Steve, is an Elder and speaker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Larry; son, Steve (Erica); grandchildren, Ben (Mari), Luke, Phoebe, Jessie; great-grandson, Zion; sister, Connie (Orville) Johnson; brother, Dave (Deb) Thormahlen.

Indictment sought for P-town man accused of attempted arson

Buyno to remain in marshals’ custody, federal court judge rules

URBANA – Federal prosecutors are seeking an indictment against a Prophetstown man accused of attempting to burn down the site of a future reproductive health clinic where abortions will be performed.

Philip J. Buyno, 73, who appeared in U.S. Central District Court via video May 31, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and detention hearing and Magistrate Judge Eric I. Long ordered him detained by the U.S. Marshals Service until the indictment is handed down.

Buyno is scheduled to be arraigned in the indictment, if one is issued, on June 9. The matter of his detention might be revisited.

On May 26, the Morrison Police Department received a complaint for a check welfare at 601 E. Lincoln Way. As a result, police arrested Kristopher Ludvigsen, 30, of Morrison on warrants for failure to appear, improper use of registration, and contempt of court. Ludvigsen was transported to the Whiteside County Jail.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugene L Miller is the lead prosecutor.

For now, Buyno is charged with attempted arson and faces five to 20 years in prison. What charges the indictment seeks won’t be made public unless it is unsealed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Buyno told investigators he was a member of an anti-abortion “rescue group” that prevents abortion clinics from being established.

About 4:30 a.m. May 20, Buyno backed his car into the entrance of the Danville building. The car was filled with containers of gasoline, wood and old tires that he planned to use to burn the building down, he told investigators. His effort, which was caught on video surveillance cameras, failed when he became trapped inside the car.

Buyno also told investigators that, should he be released, he’d go back and finish the job.

He also said he was active in the anti-abortion movement in the 1980s and ’90s and rejoined the movement four years ago after he retired, according to the affidavit.

Rock Island Sheriff reports robbery of armored truck employee

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 7:49 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, regarding the robbery of an armored truck employee.

The incident occurred while the employee was walking into the Tyson Foods - Joslin Plant, 28424 38th Avenue North, Hillsdale, to fill the ATM. A weapon was inferred and the armored truck employee was not injured during the robbery.

This is an ongoing investigation conducted by the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Illinois State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigations. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

Cordova library puts on annual Paint the Road event

Born: November 2, 1939 in Davenport, IA

Died: June 1, 2023 in Iowa City, IA

Gary D. Frantz, 83, of Erie, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Services were held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Erie. Visitation was from 5 – 8 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Burial took place in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Gary was born on November 2, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa to George and Helen (Anderson) Frantz. He graduated from United

Township High School and went to work for John Deere. He married Betty A. Crouch on September 26, 1959 at St. Anne’s Church, East Moline, IL. Gary retired as a Supervisor from the John Deere Foundry in 1992 after 35 years of service.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his garden. Gary was a stamp collector and was a member of the Quad City Stamp Club.

Gary is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Brandi (Rob) Meiner of South Elgin, IL; a brother, Jerry (Paula) Frantz of Leavenworth, KS; grandchildren, Ryan Frantz, September (Paul) Reimann, Jessica (Dan) Ward, and Madeline Meiner; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Alayna and Ridley, Landen, Bella and Paul Jr, and Kylee, Jaxon and Jacie. Despite the warm midday temperatures on Saturday, kids and adults had a blast painting art in their own square in front of Cordova District Library. Community Outreach Director Chalyn Fornero Green said library staff prepared 140 squares and each one was painted. “This is what’s great about Cordova – it’s the best part of small-town life,” she said of the event, adding it’s a collaboration between the library, fire department, village and community members. She thanked all who showed up, saying there would be no art on the road without the kids and their family members coming out to paint.

Blackhawk Bank & Trust opens new

Bank leaders, Port Byron officials and Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ambassadors gathered at a ribbon-cutting May 24 at Blackhawk Bank & Trust’s new building in Port Byron. The new branch facility at 105 N. High St. officially opened its doors to customers May 4 after vacating the former facility at 124 N. Main St.

While the building may be new, the bank’s presence in Port Byron is not. Before acquisition in 2015, Port Byron State Bank had been part of the community since Sept. 1, 1863, making it the second-oldest bank in the state. When Blackhawk Bank & Trust acquired Port Byron State Bank, it saw the need to update and modernize the banking facilities.

“We wanted to invest in this community and update the banking facility in Port Byron and we’ve done so in the name of accessibility,” said Jim Huiskamp, president of Blackhawk Bank & Trust. “This new branch is conveniently located right off Route 84 and now features two lanes with ITM drive-thru service, which is an improvement from the drive-thru lane that existed before.”

At the ceremony, Port Byron Mayor Barb Cray delivered opening remarks, saying she’s grateful and happy to have the bank in the community in a beautiful new facility.

While the new building features some of the latest in banking technology, historical items from the former branch building have been preserved such as the original vault door and rolltop desk of the original bank president. Customers will recognize the same familiar team led by branch manager Julie Hager.

“This new branch is unique because while we pay tribute to the history of banking with the preserved vault door and the artwork showcasing local history, up on the teller line and at the new drive-thrus we are using some of the newest technology to be introduced to the banking world,” Huiskamp said.

Alex Ottens makes it to Round 2 at National Spelling Bee

Alex Ottens, a PLT eighth grader, competed in the 95th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C., last week and made it to the second round before elimination in the “definition” competition.

Following a proper send-off at the middle school, Alex, 14, along with his parents, Ashley and Chad Ottens, and his grandparents, headed out May 25 for a weeklong stay in the nation’s capital. They later were joined by Mrs. Emily Higgins, PLT Spelling Bee sponsor and PLT special education teacher for grades 6-12. The regional office sponsored Alex’s trip while the school district covered Mrs. Higgins’ travel expenses.

After arriving at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, Alex got some practice hours in before Round 1 on Tuesday, May 30. During the first round of competition, he correctly spelled ichthyology – a branch of zoology devoted to the study of fish. He was one of 172 spellers advancing to the next round, with 59 eliminated. Round 2 required spellers to correctly define a given word.

Alex’s question was, “if something has been ballyhooed, it has been:” to which he replied, “overturned in a body of water.”

The correct answer was “advertised by means of cheap sensationalism.” Alex unfortunately was one of 32

The journey will be an experience Alex will never forget, especially since it was his first visit to the nation’s capital. “Bee Week” was held at the convention center with 231 spellers from all 50 states participating in the activi-

ties. The family had plans to visit the Busch Gardens Theme Park, the National Mall and the Holocaust Museum in D.C. and Gettysburg while in Pennsylvania.

Alex placed first at the Lee, Ogle and Whiteside County Regional Spelling Bee Championship in March with the word “superlative” to secure his spot in the national competition. Mrs. Higgins said Alex is the fourth student from the district to compete in nationals, the last time being in 2007. She helped restart the Spelling Bee program in 2018 after it had been on hiatus from 2013-17 after previous sponsor Lorraine McCallister retired in 2012.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee, established in 1925, features six rounds of competition consisting of spelling, definition and a combination of both. Semifinals were Wednesday, May 31, and the final round between the top three spellers was June 1. Visit their website at spellingbee. com to learn more or for additional photos.

Alex returned home to Lyndon on Saturday, June 3, and had a couple of days off before flying to Yellowstone National Park for PLT’s eighth grade trip, which until last year was always Washington, D.C.

Miller program to feature ‘Songs of the Mississippi River’

The Volunteer Millers of de Immigrant Windmill will be hosting singer-songwriter and folk musician Chris Vallillo of Macomb, who will share his program titled “Songs of the Mississippi River.” Plan on joining them at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the Windmill Cultural Center located at 111 10th Ave. in Fulton, across from the authentic Dutch windmill.

The program intermingles traditional and contemporary folk songs that tell the story of the influence the great Mississippi River had on hardworking people who struggled to live along its banks for generations. These poignant songs are a way to view the past and future of Midwest river folk.

Vallillo has a natural affinity for American roots music. He performs on six-string and bottleneck slide guitars and harmonica, weaving a portrait of the history and lifestyles of the Midwest.

Vallillo has been a frequent guest performer on the American Queen cruise line as it journeys up and down the Mississippi.

Programming is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.

Sidewalks were the principal concern at the Fulton City Council meeting. The council voted to authorize Mayor Wiersema to negotiate with engineers and contractors in an effort to have excavating for sidewalks and possibly part of the construction work included in the contract for the paving of 12th Street from 10th Avenue to First Avenue.

New teachers have been employed for Fulton schools for the next school year. Richard Perrin will teach Spanish at the high school, Mrs. Bernardine Jones will teach English and Mrs. Donna Benway will teach English and Latin. Robert King will teach junior high science and Larry Senior will teach chemistry, physics and math. Mrs. Senior has been employed to teach third grade in the Fulton Grade School, and Donald McGinnis has been employed to teach sociology, world history and economics.

Although Fulton suffered little direct damage as a result of the prolonged flood conditions, damage to the city’s sewer system resulting from the unusually high water over a period of several weeks may run as much as $150,000.

June 8, 1983

State track qualifiers were Ron Gossard, 100-meter high hurdles; Gary Medendorp, 400 and long jump; the 400-meter relay team of Dan Van Zuiden, James Hatfield, Jeff Foltz and Gary Medendorp; and the 800-meter relay team of Dan Van Zuiden, Rich Higgins, James Hatfield and Jeff Foltz. Medendorp won a state championship. Beautification to the dike has begun. Concrete was poured to form the steps for the stairway leading to the top of the dike at the west end of 10th Avenue. Another set of steps was made to lead to the berm where the Fulton landmark will be constructed. Work also started on a special park being constructed just south of the 10th Avenue. The park area is located on First Avenue, between 10th and 11th avenues.

June 2, 1993

Just before the end of the school year, Kate Stiles, president of the student council of Fulton High School, gave a $100 donation to Chamber of Commerce president Kent Hammer. The money was given for the renovation of the tennis courts on 12th Street. The biggest boost in the fund request came with the donation of $1,000 by Delbert and Marian Curley.

Mayor Kenneth Ven Huizen reappointed Eugene Richter as city treasurer at the City Council meeting. He did not reappoint Chief of Police Douglas Krahn. The mayor said he did not reappoint Krahn because, “there are some differences that need to be resolved that were not settled this past month.”

June 4, 2003

Kent Hammer will be leaving his job as superintendent of the River Bend school district for the past 16 years to begin a new job as director of human resources for the Bettendorf school district. This summer he still will be working part time for the school district here and three days a week for the Bettendorf school district. He will continue to live in Fulton,

which enables him to help River Bend during the transition period as a new superintendent is hired.

The second and third grade Fulton Steamers spring soccer team went undefeated this season. Team members include Nick Piercy, Jeff Finn, Dustin Beswick, Matt Carbaugh, Austin Byers, Matt Hartman, Christian Meggers, Tyler Easley, Ryan Hoogheem, Erik Renkes, Trae Tiesman, Evan Eissens, Michael Temple, Corbin Hayes and Stephan Kenneavy.

A plea was put out for a bucket brigade from the Kiwanis Club and the Gateway Chapter of the American Red Cross after the disastrous tornado that occurred in Oklahoma. A total of $7,512 was collected and given to the Red Cross.

The annual Blessing of the Bikes was held with a record-breaking 302 motorcycles rolling into Fulton. The event was sponsored by ABATE (A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education) and District 21. The Rev. Arley Downie, a retired Catholic priest of the Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico, blessed each bike and rider, praying for safe travels for all.

Individuals commonly at risk for endocarditis are discussed

By STEPHEN D. HARRISON, M.D.

Endocarditis is an infectious process that damages heart structures and even progresses to death if left untreated. Despite sporadic fevers, the condition is often difficult to discover in its early phases because it usually does not present destruction to heart structures or show any early signs of spread.

Individuals primarily at risk for endocarditis include those with prosthetic heart valves, previous endocarditis, certain structural damage to the heart including coarctation of the aorta, ventricular sepal defect, bicuspid aortic value, aortic or mitral valve problems or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Mitral valve prolapse also may be associated with risk, however, this is only if there is regurgitation, kickback or significant thickened leaflets. Thus, a high percentage of people with mitral valve prolapse are not at risk for endocarditis.

Certain common procedures place a patient more at risk for endocarditis. It is felt that these procedures stir up bacteria

in the bloodstream, which may move to the valves or other damaged structures of the valves and form vegetations later breaking off into the bloodstream and carried elsewhere in toxic fashion to the body. Commonly identified procedures of concern include dental extractions, deep cleaning that would cause the gums to bleed, instrumentation such as a root canal or surgery and placements of bands, although not brackets. Other conditions include respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy or gastrointestinal procedures such as sclerotherapy or dilations of the esophagus, ERCP, and related measures regarding the gallbladder tract. Routine colonoscopies do not require prophylaxis, though if there is surgery or deep biopsies, it is recommended. Urinary procedures such as urethral dilation or prostate or urethral surgery and cystoscopy are advised to have the prophylaxis.

The symptoms of bacterial endocarditis are widespread and common to many conditions and do not occur uniformly. All of this makes the condition difficult to diagnose, but some of the symptoms may include fever, heart murmur, chills,

sweats, weight loss, muscle or joint aches, certain skin conditions, very fine bruising, anemia, etc. To diagnose the condition, your doctor may attempt blood cultures, although these are difficult to recover the organisms. Also, an electrocardiogram may help support the diagnosis. Certain other blood tests may be helpful as well.

In full blown conditions, treatment is quite challenging and may require intense antibiotics for several weeks. At other times, when value damage already has set in and deteriorated, surgery may be essential. Precaution is necessary for dental procedures.

For years, doctors have given prophylaxis for the at-risk procedures listed above in which the patient often will take a course of antibiotics an hour or so before the procedure as recommended by the American Heart Association. Unfortunately, all this antibiotic use is only theoretical and unproved, but given the potential consequences above, most feel it is the appropriate thing to do. It has changed dramatically since 2010 with far less indications.

Free rabies vaccine clinic in Whiteside County on June 14

Dr. Emily Schier, a veterinarian, will be giving free one-year rabies vaccine and microchipping from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14 while supplies last. The event will take place at Whiteside County Animal Control, 1701 Industrial Drive, Rock Falls.

You must purchase a county registration tag in order to receive the service. The cost for an unaltered dog is $35, altered dog $20, unaltered cat $25 and altered cat $15.

The vaccines are on a first-come, first-served basis. After the free microchips are used, more will be available for $10.

The National Spanish Exam is a very challenging two-part exam that students can choose to take to test their

skills. It’s a good experience for students who might take a college placement exam in Spanish, teacher Laura

United Way of Whiteside County will hold its weekly Feed Our Children summer lunch program from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 9.

The program is free and open to children of all ages.

CGH Auxiliary and Health Foundation accepting scholarship applications

STERLING – The CGH Auxiliary and CGH Health Foundation are accepting separate applications for their annual scholarships.

The scholarships are available to students who live in the CGH service area. Applicants must be accepted into their professional school of study for a nursing or health care degree

The CGH Auxiliary annually awards $1,000 scholarships.

Auxiliary applicants must meet criteria established by the Auxiliary.

The foundation offers four nursing and health care scholarships. Only one application can be submitted.

The scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000.

All applications are due Thursday, June 15. Applications are available online at cghmc.com/scholarships.
