Fulton beats EPC for six th w in; Morrison blows out LeRoy

Fulton 35, EPC 14: Fulton built a 21-0 halftime lead and outrushed Eastland-Pearl City 202-37 on its way to a 35-14 NUIC victory Saturday afternoon at Fulton.

Ryan Eads rushed for three touchdowns and caught another to lead the Steamers’ offense. His rushing scores came on runs of 2, 1, and 4 yards. He also hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Brayden Dykstra.

Joel Ford scored the other Fulton touchdown on a 21-yard run.

Carsen Heeren scored both Wildcatz touchdowns on carries of 5 and 1 yards.

Morrison 56, LeRoy 7: Led by three touchdowns from Chase Newman and Danny Mouw, the Morrison Mustangs rolled to a nonconference win over the LeRoy Panthers.

Newman returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown, and caught two more from Mouw on passes of 29 and 30 yards. As a receiver, he caught four balls for 93 yards. As a runner, he took nine carries for 103 yards.

Mouw went 6 for 8 passing with 168 yards and three touchdowns, including the two to Newman. His third touchdown was a 69-yarder to Deshaun McQueen.

McQueen finished with two receptions for 75 yards.

Brady Anderson and Carson Strating rushed for two touchdowns apiece. Anderson racked up 89 yards on eight carries, with a long run of 51 yards. Strating tallied 31 yards on 10 totes.

Anderson also had an interception.

Volleyball

Fulton def. Polo 25-18, 25-11: The Steamers topped the Marcos in an NUIC match in Fulton.

Brooklyn Brennan had four kills, eight assists, two digs and two aces, and Annaka Hackett added five kills and two blocks for Fulton. Ava Bowen had three kills and seven aces, Miraya Pessman added two kills, two aces, six assists and six digs, and Resse Germann chipped in four digs, two aces and a block.

Erie-Prophetstown def. Rockridge

15-25, 25-15, 25-5: After falling in the first set at home, the Panthers rolled past the Rockets in a Three Rivers West match.

Sydney Schwartz served 20 points in a row as Erie-Prophetstown took a 21-1 lead in the decisive third set. She finished the match with four aces.

Kennedy Buck had 23 assists and six digs, and Jamie Neumiller added 14 digs and three aces. Sarii Kochevar led the Panthers with seven kills and three blocks, Aylah Jones also spiked seven kills, and Olivia Purvis had five kills. Claire Reymer and Lauren Abbott both stuffed two blocks.

Erie-Prophetstown def. Riverdale

25-14, 25-15: The Panthers picked up a Three Rivers West win at home over the Rams.

Kennedy Buck had 19 assists and five kills, Aylah Jones added five kills and five digs, and Jamie Neumiller finished with 10 digs and four aces for Erie-Prophetstown. Sarii Kochevar also spiked five kills, and Claire Reymer stuffed four blocks.

Rockridge def. Morrison 25-18, 25-20:

The Fillies fell in a Three Rivers West road match.

Cross country

Patriot Invite: The Erie-Prophetstown boys scored 282 points for a ninth-place finish, Newman scored 321 for 11th, and Bureau Valley scored 457 for 17th at the 33-team meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Riverdale claimed the boys championship with 77 points.

Erie-Prophetstown’s Charlie Link finished the run in 16:19.8 to take 18th, Jacob Gibson ran a 17:05.6 for 59th, and Lucas Dreisbach clocked a 17:08.0 for 64th. Victor Bonnell placed 81st with a 17:25.4, Zane Romero took 88th with a 17:37.1, and Aidan Jepson clocked a 17:56.2 for 108th.

The E-P girls took 20th in a 32-team field, scoring 522 points, and Newman took 28th, tallying 653.

The Panthers were led by Jillian Norman’s 71st-place finish in 21:06.7, Chloe Slock came in 115th with a 22:15.5, and Clara Ashdown clocked a 22:43.5 for 129th.
