Asteadystreamofthriftyshoppersmade theirwaytoAlbanyonSaturday,Nov.19,toget a glimpseofanewshop ontheGreatRiverRoad. Katie’sKonsignment&Moreopenedforbusinessat407S.MainSt.withcookies,candy samplesandretailandresaleitemsthatareeasyon thebudget.

ThebuildingalongRoute84,adjacenttothe villagepark,hassatemptysinceearlierthisyear when Subs2GowassoldandrelocatedtoThomson.Nowit’stakingshapeasabusinesswith amplefloorandwallspaceforavarietyofgoods thataresuretokeepthriftshopperscomingback.

KatieandShaneGallagheraretheentrepreneurialcouplebehindthebusiness.Shegrewup inAlbany,withherchildhoodhomevisiblefrom theshop.Nowtheyliveontheoutskirtsoftown withtwoyoungchildrenandabevyofcats,dogs, chickensandducks.Shaneworksasanengineer andKatieworksathomeandcoachesgymnasticsonceaweek.Sheexpectstobeworkingatthe shopforthemostpart,thoughshehasfamily andfriendstocallontohelp.

Evenwiththeirbusyschedules,thecouple decidedtopursuetheopportunitysinceherdad, JerryAnglese,ownsthebuilding.Nothavingto investinthecostofentrancemadeitaneasy decisiontosetupshopandinvestinthecommunitybyofferingadifferentkindofbrick-andmortarstore.

“Youneverknowwhatyou’llfindbecausethe inventorywillalwaysbechanging,”Katiesaid. Usedclothingforinfants,childrenandadults rangefrom$1to$3,andthere’splentyofitems forsprucingupthehomeoraddinganewlook, fromnewandusedtohandmadeorvintage.

FACEboardmemberHeidi Kolkemphasizedtheimpactof thealmost$1.2millionthat already hasbeengrantedtoFultonnonprofitsandcauses,thanks todonorswhohavemadecharitablegiftstoFACEendowment funds.
