The project needs to compensate housing solutions for 300.000 people in a newly planned city in South Dhahran. Each scheme has to take construction phasing and community coverage into consideration.
The concept of Scheme 1 is to have open spaces defined by my major mosques and have long uninterrupted boulevards connecting each on them to form a network of open spaces. The concept was heavily influenced by Washington DC, and it's easy to understand and navigate.
The concept of Scheme 2 is centered on the four circular public spaces and has the central boulevards act as mirrors to "reflect" the public spaces. The central boulevards are also functioning as dividers to each construction phasing which helps tenants to understand the structure of each neighborhood based on the similarity of their own neighborhood.
Similar to Scheme 2, Scheme 3 also take advantage of the major boulevards and used them as phasing dividers. The three large green spaces connecting with a green belt road promotes the dynamic movement throughout the city. The grid system makes it easy to navigate through the city as well.
Scheme 4 has roads and boulevards follow the terrain and underground rivers, maximizing the possible usage of the water budget since water is a rarity in such regions. It also results in an interesting road pattern full of wonders to navigate.
