Celeste Bonin, creator of Celestial Bodiez, has an interesting story to tell—and a background that’s every bit as unique as the clothing she designs. As a young girl, Celeste pursued “boyish” activities, especially sports, and learned early on that winning sometimes requires risks. She began her career as a fitness model, and soon thereafter began competing, eventually winning the National Physique Committee John Sherman Classic Bodybuilding Figure and Fitness Championship. At 23, Celeste was tapped by WWE as a last-minute replacement for an elimination TV show. She rolled the dice, packed up her life, and moved from Houston to Tampa to pursue the opportunity. With no persona, no funding and no outfit, she had 48 hours to get it together and make a name for herself. And that’s exactly what she did. Celeste went on to become a successful model and WWE wrestler, where she competed professionally under the ring name Kaitlyn, and ultimately became a WWE Diva Champion. A few years into her career, Celeste decided she wanted to develop a clothing line. She wanted options that could flatter the physique while still withstanding the demands of high intensity performance. (Because, really, is there any better inspiration for high intensity than backbreakers and full nelsons?) With no background in fashion whatsoever, in 2014, her inspiration came to life with the launch of Celestial Bodiez, a creative line of athleisure wear. She ran her new business on determination and grit, dead-set on gaining a foothold for her budding brand. Inspired by her former WWE outfits, she designed dozens of prototypes until finding her final selection, which featured a ruche stitching on the backside. It flattered. It worked. And it looked amazing. The style would go on to become her signature “bootyscrunch” curve-hugging seam design. The rest, as they say, is history. The Celestial Bodiez clothing line is meant to embody the strength and prowess of bold women everywhere, designed to be worn from the couch to the gym, providing equal parts comfort and confidence. When she’s not picking patterns, researching materials, slaying photoshoots or vlogging, Celeste can be found unwinding at home, tearing it up in the ring, or pouring her heart into a charitable project. She provides scholarships for women recovering from addiction, a battle she faced herself. She also enjoys giving back to the community, placing a huge value on youth sports, an integral part of her own life that kept her out of trouble and taught her important values. As Celestial Bodiez continues to grow, so do Celeste’s goals and aspirations. If her past success is any indication, the best is yet to come!
