STRESS RELIEF CLASS

Movement is key to a healthy outlook. This therapeutic class is designed to balance stress hormones. Gentle movements along with body scan mediation and breathing techniques provide each participant with the tools to reclaim control and experience relief.

DIABETES EDUCATION CLASSES

Learn how to improve your blood sugar control and increase your self-confidence to manage diabetes. The curriculum includes an initial one-on-one visit with a Certified Diabetes Educator, and then a series of three two-hour class sessions with a Registered Nurse and a Registered Dietitian. You want to know what you have and be able to find it when you need it. We’ll look at organizational systems and tools that will work for your personality. Tips to manage the “paper monster” will also be shared.

Getting rid of physical clutter brings clarity and energy to look at life’s intangible clutter. Uncover resources to discover your purpose for your current life stage. Get tips to maintain your newly organized home so it will support you creating your best life.

BOOK CLUB: A NOVEL IDEA

Come together for connection and community. Our society looks for extravagant and electronic ways to feel connected. AdventHealth is getting back to one of the simplest forms of community — Book Club. We will be reading Happier Now by Nataly Kogan. Nataly Kogan was featured as one of the LIV: Living in Vitality 2021 conference keynote speakers. This isn’t a book about positive thinking, silver linings, or always being happy. This is a book about living fully in good times and bad and enjoying life more because of it. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the featured book. The Good, The Bad, The Antibiotics

Since the discovery of penicillin nearly a century ago, antibiotics have saved or improved millions of human lives. It’s not just good, it’s miraculous.

But now a new challenge has emerged — overuse or misuse of antibiotics. It can be unhealthy and downright dangerous.

Antibiotics can cause new health problems: 3 As much as 50 percent of prescribed antibiotics are unnecessary, according to the CDC. 3 The most dangerous side effect of antibiotics: development of antibioticresistant bacteria. 3 Antibiotic-resistant bacteria sicken more than 2 million

Americans annually.

The Good

Antibiotics are effective against: 3 Bacterial infections (like strep throat) 3 Some parasites (like intestinal worms) 3 Some fungal infections (like bronchitis).

Sir Alexander Fleming 3 discovered the world's first broadly effective antibiotic substance in 1928, which he named penicillin.

The Bad

Use Antibiotics the Right Way

Statistics show that at least 30 percent of antibiotics prescribed in doctors’ offices, emergency departments and clinics are unnecessary. Here are some ways you can help stop antibiotic misuse:

3 Wash your hands often with warm, soapy water to help prevent infections. 3 Take antibiotics exactly how they are prescribed. Don’t miss doses, and complete the entire cycle, even if you start feeling better. 3 Don’t share antibiotics or take someone else’s antibiotics. Taking the wrong antibiotic may keep you sick longer or allow bad bacteria to grow. 3 Don’t save antibiotics for the next illness or take leftover antibiotics. Discard any leftover antibiotics once the course has ended.
