Shawn Hartley Hancock

I began my writing and editing career in college, as features editor of Mount Holyoke's weekly campus newspaper, and soon started making real money writing for the Daily Hampshire Gazette in nearby Northampton. After graduation (B.A. Art History), I landed in NYC, where for the next 10 years I worked my way up the masthead of national magazines. At Seventeen, I wrote the magazine's beloved "Dear Beauty Editor" column, then trotted the globe writing travel articles for Diversion and Successful Meetings magazines, many syndicated by the New York Times. I have authored travel books on Florida and California, as well as a gift book about children's author/illustrator Beatrix Potter. My work on behalf of nonprofits is extensive and includes serving as Communications Manager at the New York Junior League and Director of Marketing & Communications at Hancock Shaker Village. I continue to write widely about culture and the arts for national, regional and online publications.
