8 Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. “Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.” The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

The Hail Mary Hail Mary, Full of grace! the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

14 Prayer to St. Anne

O glorious St. Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke you, love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my trouble, I cast myself at your feet, and humbly beg of you to take the present affair which I recommend to you under your special guidance. Vouchsafe to recommend it to thy Daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that he may bring it to a Happy Issue. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God, face to face, and with you and Mary and all the Saints, praising and blessing Him for all eternity.
