GLITCH GARDEN IN DEPTFORD SHAOBO WU U21
THE GLITCH GARDEN [ Digital Archaeology of Forgotten Worlds] The media we produced manipulate our daily life but it is also a spectacle of degradation of human life. While new media emerging, old media die. Some rare data will not be recirculated in time, thus they are missing in the new digital landscape. In Glitch Garden, the glitched space and recurrence landscape which revived by computer intelligence from the “dead media is an metaphoric virtual representation of our spectacle society, a place where reality is topsy-turvy, a virtual land populated with glitch and absurdity that reveals the moment of truth. As we wander through the Glitch Garden, we dive into the world hidden within dead media and immerse ourselves into a surreal spectacle. There is no gravity in this land and new rules are omnipresent, classical columns were used as ornaments, and spaces are juxtaposed and intersected, the ceiling becomes the wall, and the elevator becomes the bridge. The glitch are re-mapped as a surreal landscape and excessive details. If we see dead media as landscapes then will we experience more real in a society of spectacle?
