Overview Maybe it’s the feathers and glitz, maybe it’s the fancy-free attitude that everyone seemed to have, but the roaring 20’s have always held a prized spot in our hearts. When we learned that the Cavalier on the Hill was going to be out of commission for remodeling there was no question that the As You Wish team had to jump on the opportunity to get in there one last time. Every detail of this shoot just screams “glam”, and the vendors that we worked with were so much fun!

Bohemian Romance DECEMBER 2, 2013
Overview I am naturally drawn to couples that want to incorporate their own personal style into their wedding day. I absolutely love when clients march to the beat of their own drum and I wanted to stylize a shoot with that same frame of thought. I built the design for this shoot from three simple rules: 1. The bride had to be barefoot and in a colored dress 2. I wanted to use very organic and earthy elements while keeping things beautiful 3. We HAD to have a bird! This shoot was so much fun to put together and took two days to complete due to inclement weather. Luckily, we had a phenomenal photographer who was able to work well under pressure. Our shoot was held at The Hermitage Museum and Gardens in Norfolk which is a historical property with a lot of beautiful features and landscaping. It was the perfect location to bring my bohemian vision to life! Our intern Gracie was the bride, and my brother Daryl played the part of the groom. For just meeting that day they had some great chemistry and I’ve already started planning their wedding ( just in case!). We worked with some very talented wedding professionals on this shoot who were not only excited about my vision, but they knocked it out of the park!

A Taste of Spring DECEMBER 1, 2013
Overview In May, As You Wish teamed up with some talented colleagues (and our officemates), photographer Tara Liebeck, and florist Debbie Pence of Fluttering Flowers to stylize a shoot inspired by Spring. If you haven’t been to our studio yet, it’s nestled inside a beautiful brick building in the heart of Chesapeake, Virginia, and we all agreed it was the perfect location to host our first stylized shoot together. We hope you’ll agree!

The Secret Garden AUGUST 15, 2013
Overview The most amazing group of vendors came together to create a gorgeous Secret Garden inspired stylized shoot. The whole inspiration for this shoot was an beautiful set of 9ft doors that I saw on the River Designs Vintage Rentals Facebook page. They literally blew me away, and I just knew right. then. that they needed to be the center of something spectacular. Well, my goal was achieved ten fold. I kept imagining a perfect couple walking through a garden on their big day and stumbling across these beautiful doors. The doors were the entrance to a magical, secret garden and everything is reflective of that feeling. From the antique china, to the mismatched chairs, the skeleton key place cards, bright and lush flowers, an amazing boutonniere made with watch pieces, the gorgeous invitation suite with subtle flowers and lace detail, and the stunningly romantic dress that appears to just float through the grounds. We had so much fun giving a new look to a common wedding setting, don’t be afraid to transform any space into something more your own.
