Tuesday 3rd May - MRS BROWN ‘There’s love and there’s behaving like you do because there’s nobody to tell you not to.’
While on an extended stay at Balmoral Castle and still in mourning over the death of her beloved Prince Albert, Queen Victoria meets Mr. Brown, a member of her household staff who thinks the time has come for her to start living a normal life. Tuesday 17th May - LES CHORISTES ‘Never say never. Something’s always worth trying.’ The correctional school for orphans and problematic boys is run with iron fist by the cruel director Rachin – until the arrival of former music teacher Clément Mathieu, who sees the opportunity to transform the lives of the boys and everyone around them through the power of music. ‘Wit, warmth and gusto’ BBC Movies

Where’s my feather up the ass?’ The multi-Oscar winning life story of the Little Sparrow, Édith Piaf, from her traumatic childhood to her discovery as a street singer and rapid rise to fame. INTERNATIONAL CINEMA Tuesday 31st May - A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT ‘Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me alone.’
In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire. A cool, stylish and darkly comic flip of the traditional Vampire myth, shot in monochrome by first-time feature director and British-born Iranian Ana Lily Amirpour. An Iranian Vampire Western, with a killer soundtrack. ‘Twilight’ this is not! ‘A very slick and surprising vampire movie’ The Independent
Tuesday 14th June - TAXI TEHRAN ‘You’re making a movie, right? You, a cabbie? No way, Mr Panahi!’ Iranian Director Jafar Panahi is banned from making films in his own country. His response is this – shot on three secret cameras inside a taxi on the streets of Tehran with Panahi himself as the driver, sheepishly admitting he doesn’t know where anything is, and never asking for money. Full of unique wit, grace and humanity, quietly defiant good humour and charm and an audacious exercise in guerrilla film-making. ‘Spry, sharp and relentlessly clever.’ Time Out
Box Office 01276 707600 Find extended information and links to trailers at www.camberleytheatre.biz Tuesday 12th July - BEASTS OF NO NATION ‘Bullet is just eating everything, leaves, trees, ground, person.’ A drama based on the experiences of Agu, a child soldier fighting in the civil war of an unnamed African country. Director Cary Fukunaga brings flair, muscular storytelling, directness and a persuasively epic sweep to this brutal, heart-rending movie. BOGART BACALL Tuesday 28th June - TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT ‘’You know how to whistle, don’t you Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.’ Howard Hawks’ stylish take on Ernest Hemingway’s novel sees the reluctant Harry Morgan (Bogart) embroiled with the Free French Resistance on Martinique during World War II, when in walks the mysterious and beautiful lounge singer, ‘Slim’ (Bacall, making her screen debut). Feel the air crackle with sexual tension as the story of Hollywood’s greatest on and off-screen romance begins.
Tuesday 5th July - DARK PASSAGE ‘You know, it’s wonderful when guys like you lose out. Makes guys like me think maybe we got a chance in this world.’ Vincent Parry (Bogart) is an innocent man. Framed for the murder of his wife, a daring escape leads to him joining forces with Irene (Bacall) and a frantic race against time to clear his name. Famous for Sid Hickox’s ground breaking point-of-view cinematography. All films start at 7.30PM Tickets £6/£5 Theatre Club | CT’s Bar open for food and drink from 5PM
Box Office 01276 707600 Our celebration of Hollywood’s greatest on and off-screen romance! Tuesday 19th July - THE BIG SLEEP ‘Such a lot of guns around town and so few brains!’ Inarguably the best big screen transition for Raymond Chandler’s immortal creation, Phillip Marlowe, Howard Hawks’ noir classic sees the hard-boiled PI take on his most fiendishly complex case in the company of the beautiful and wealthy Vivian (Bacall) in a dark world of murder, corruption, blackmail and, just possibly, love…
Tuesday 2nd August - KEY LARGO ‘You don’t like it, do you Rocco, the storm? Show it your gun, why don’t you? If it doesn’t stop, shoot it.’ In their final big screen appearance together, John Huston’s noir fable sees Frank McCloud (Bogart) finding himself trapped in the hurricane-swept Florida Keys with his best friend’s widow Nora (Bacall) at the mercy of the mob and gangster Johnny Rocco – Edward G. Robinson’s most villainous screen creation. SPECIAL OFFER See all four Bogart Bacall films for the price of three! £18/£15 Theatre Club

JAMES CAGNEY SEASON Tuesday 6th September - THE PUBLIC ENEMY ‘Why that dirty, no good, yellow-bellied stool. I’m gonna give it to him right in the head the first time I see him.’ One of the greatest gangster films of all time, Cagney’s young hoodlum rises up through the ranks of the Chicago underworld, even as a gangster’s accidental death threatens to spark a bloody mob war. One of the earliest sights of Cagney at his most sinister. Watch out for that grapefruit!
Tuesday 13th September - ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES ‘You’ll slap me? You slap me in a dream, you better wake up and apologise.’ The seedy, gang-ridden neighbourhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York, is the setting for this classic fable of crime and redemption, as Pat O’Brien’s Catholic priest battles for the hearts and minds of young gang members with criminal Rocky (Cagney). Look out for an early supporting role for Bogie, too.
All films start at 7.30PM Tickets £6/£5 Theatre Club | CT’s Bar open for food and drink from 5PM
Box Office 01276 707600 Find extended information and links to trailers at www.camberleytheatre.biz Tuesday 20th September - WHITE HEAT ‘Made it, Ma! Top of the world!’ Cody Jarrett (Cagney) makes a daring break from prison and leads his old gang in a ruthless chemical plant payroll heist. This classic noir virtually defined the blueprint for every robberygone-wrong movie to follow, such as Reservoir Dogs, and Cagney’s psychopathic portrayal of on-screen evil has rarely been bettered.
Tuesday 4th October - LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME ‘Now look here, you stupid little broad, do you know who I am? Do you think I let dames talk to me that way?’ In one of his three Oscarnominated roles, Cagney plays ruthless gangster Snyder in an almost-true telling of jazz singer Ruth Etting’s life story. Also featuring a superb and unusually gritty performance from Doris Day. The music, naturally, is unforgettable throughout.

EALING COMEDIES Tuesday 11th October - THE LADYKILLERS ‘Simply try for one hour to behave like gentlemen.’ Five diverse oddball criminal types planning a bank robbery rent rooms on a cul-de-sac from an octogenarian widow under the pretext that they are classical musicians. One of Ealing’s darkest comedies with an astonishing cast which reads like a who’s who of comic acting – Alec Guinness, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers…
Tuesday 18th October - THE LAVENDER HILL MOB ‘I was a potential millionaire, yet I had to be satisfied with eight pounds, fifteen shillings, less deductions.’ Charles Crichton’s archetypal crime caper finds Alec Guinness’ meek bank clerk overseeing the shipment of bullion joining with an eccentric neighbour to steal gold bars and smuggle them out of the country as miniature Eiffel Towers. Co-starring Alec Guinness and Sid James.
All films start at 7.30PM Tickets £6/£5 Theatre Club | CT’s Bar open for food and drink from 5PM
Box Office 01276 707600 Four of the very best from a golden age of British film making Tuesday 25th October - KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS ‘It is so difficult to make a neat job of killing people with whom one is not on friendly terms.’ Ealing’s most arch satire on the state of the British establishment. Dennis Price’s distant poor relative of the Duke of D’Ascoyne plots to inherit the title by murdering the eight other heirs who stand ahead of him in the line of succession. Guinness plays virtually the entire D’Ascoyne dynasty, and watch out for a cameo by Arthur Lowe.
Tuesday 1st November - THE TITFIELD THUNDERBOLT ‘Perhaps there were not men of sufficient faith in Canterbury.’ Another classic Charles Crichton/ Stanley Holloway vehicle – pardon the pun – as the villagers of Titfield fight to save their local branch line in the face of British Rail insouciance. More brilliantly arch Ealing satire, this time about the domination of the little guy by big corporations. Sounds prescient?
