Walking For Health Surrey Heath Borough Council is proud to be a Walking for Health accredited scheme provider. Walking is great exercise and a brilliant way to meet new people and explore the local area. You’ll discover things you didn’t know existed right on your doorstep! These walks last between 1 - 1.5 hours and are suitable for all ages and abilities. All walks are supervised by trained walk leaders and will take into consideration the group’s ability and requirements

All walks are on or near public transport routes, but may be more easily reached by private transport.

Walks BASINGSTOKE CANAL

Gentle 1.5 hours, 3.75 miles

Follow the popular and peaceful canal towpath looking for wildlife along the way. Meet outside Frimley Lodge Café, Frimley Lodge Park, GU16 6HY.

BISLEY

Gentle 1 hour, 2.5 miles

Escape the noise of the main road and discover the woods, fields and lanes of rural Bisley. There are a few stiles to cross on this route. Meet at Shaftesbury Road Car Park, Bisley, GU24 9ER.

BLACKWATER MEADOWS Gentle 1 hour, 2.5 miles

------------------------Follow the meandering course of the River Blackwater and stroll through pleasant meadows. Meet at Admiralty Way Car Park, GU15 3DT.

CHOBHAM MEADOWS

Gentle 1 hour 2.5 miles

Take a gentle stroll through the riverside meadows that lie beyond the village of Chobham. This walk can be wet underfoot at times. Meet in the car park behind the Chobham Rider shop in Chobham High Street, GU24 8LZ. Please note the car park is free (2 hour limit) but you will need to get a ticket from the machine and display it.

CHOBHAM PLACE WOODS Gentle 1 hour, 2.5 miles

If you’ve not discovered this place; you’re missing out! Secluded woodland, quiet lanes and open expanses of heathland await. Meet outside Chobham Place Woods, Valley End Road, GU24 8TL.

TURF HILL

Gentle 1.5 hours, 2.5 miles

This pleasant walk takes in open heathland, mixed woodland and quiet lanes. Meet at Turf Hill Car Park, Guildford Road, Lightwater, GU18 5SW.

LONDON ROAD RECREATION GROUND Beginners Walk Up to 1/2 an hour

Join one of our team for a very gentle walk around London Road Recreation Ground. This walk is ideal for beginners, those with long-term health conditions or those who are recovering from injury/ illness wanting to return to exercise slowly. ASH VALE RIVER & CANAL SOUTH Moderate 2.5 Hours, 7 Miles

A circular walk down the Blackwater River Path and back along Basinstoke Canal towpath. Refreshment break at the canal centre café break. Meet outside main entrance (ticket office) of North Camp railway station, Aldershot GU12 5QA.

Moderate 1 hour, 2.5 miles

Join us for a gentle walk along charming lanes and woodland behind Bagshot. There are a few trees to cross on this route. Meet in Bagshot Playing Field Association Car Park GU19 5EN, but please park along College Ride.

BLACKWATER PARK Moderate 2.5 hours, 8 miles

Following the winding Blackwater Valley Path from the Meadows to Horseshoe Lake, you’ll be grateful of the refreshment stop at a local pub along the way! Meet in Blackwater Station Car Park GU17 9AB.

SANDHURST AND LAKES

Moderate 2 hours, 6 miles

------------------------A circular walk by the Tri, Horseshoe and Moor Green lakes before returning to the pub by noon for an optional roast

lunch! Parking available in pub car park. Meet at The Rose & Crown Pub, 108 High Street, Sandhurst, GU47 8HA.

LIGHTWATER COUNTRY PARK Moderate 1 hour, 2.5 miles

------------------------Walk through the varied landscape of this breathtaking Country Park and beyond. Lots to see and explore; you’ll never get bored of the scenery. Meet at the Café, GU18 5RG.

HAWLEY (MINLEY) LAKE

Moderate 1.5 hours, 3.75 miles

Hidden away on the outskirts of the Borough but well worth a visit! Wandering along man made tracks, through trees and circling the lake, you won’t just visit the once! Meet opposite the entrance to Hawley Lake Sailing Club, (near the Crown and Cushion pub), GU17 9LP.

MYTCHETT RANGES

Moderate 1.5 hours, 3.75 miles

------------------------The moderate climb to the top of the ranges will all be worth it when you see the view! Meet outside Frimley Lodge Café, Frimley Lodge Park, GU16 6HY.

QUEEN’S AVENUE TO FLEET Moderate 3.5 hours, 9 miles

------------------------Follow the Basingstoke Canal from Aldershot to Fleet for a refreshment stop before returning to Queen’s Avenue. Meet at the free car park near the junction of Queen’s Avenue and Prince’s Avenue, Aldershot, GU11 2LB.

WILDMOOR HEATH

Moderate 2 hours, 6 miles

------------------------Enjoy a choice of walks through heathland, meadow and woodland taking in Wildmoor Heath, the Devil’s Highway and Broadmoor before stopping for coffee. There are 3 stiles on this walk Meet at Wildmoor Heath Car Park, RG45 7PP.
