WELCOME TO THE SURREY HEATH

After a two-year hiatus, we’re really excited to be back and have got an exciting day planned for the whole family. You’ll see the return of several show favourites including the ever-popular Classic Car Show, the Frimley Lodge Miniature Railway and the Show Arena, showcasing the best in local community entertainment. The Show’s mascot, Spike the Hedgehog is also here, so be sure to say hello! WHAT’S NEW? For the first time in the show's history, the event will incorporate a boating spectacle along the adjacent Basingstoke Canal, coordinated by the Basingstoke Canal Society as part of the Canal's delayed 30th anniversary celebrations. Be sure to head over to the canal and take a look. This year's show will also introduce an updated layout, new places to eat and drink, a number of new stalls. There are also some changes to the dog show. Next Chapter Animal Rescue are hosting a Fancy Dress Dog Parade in the Arena. WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR PROFITS? The Surrey Heath Show exists to raise money and awareness for local good causes. Each year the Show distributes profits to a number of local charities and community groups who deliver services in Surrey Heath. If you wish to apply for funding, applications will open on 20th June and close on 18th September 2022. More details can be found on the Show website.

Basingstoke Canal Society Activities These events have been coordinated by the Basingstoke Canal Society as part of the delayed celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Canal’s re-opening in 1991. Take a walk along the canal Along the towpath the Society invite visitors to view a colourful rally of narrow boats, an electric launch, and steam boat moored along the canal. Boaters from the Byfleet Boat Club and visitors from the Cotswold Canal Cruising Club are welcome.

There will be plenty of activity on the water from Basingstoke Canal Canoe Club and Blackwater Valley Canoe Club which you could see during a short walk along the towpath. They will be displaying their full array of canoes and kayaks and showing off their skills and teamwork.

Watch canoe polo At around 2pm Basingstoke Canal Canoe Club and Blackwater Valley Canoe Club will be on the water near the Guildford Road Bridge to play canoe polo, which is quite the spectacle. Come along to give them your support!

Find out more about the Basingstoke Canal restoration In the show ground the Society has a display of archive photographs from the years of the canal restoration. Perhaps you remember ‘Perseverance’ the steam dredger?
